so i was in a shop today and saw this pendent with what it said was a goldstone on it........ i've never heard of a goldstone and it almost looked manmade.....it was really mesmorising tho, so rich in colour and of course i am a leo, so i guess it was a natural attraction thing going on.
i never bought it because i wasn't sure of it.

anyone know anything about them?? or was it all make believe?

hmmm, I don't know...
pyrite is 'fools gold', and very pretty...
I'm not sure what the difference is, except in price.

i've been looking it up, it came about when alchemists were trying to make gold from base metals.

Goldstone crystals were once reputed to be a man made substance originating from sunstone.

or

It's glass and copper?? i don't like that discription, makes it sound like some glorified tacky glass trinket LOL

apparently it rebels negative entitieS and slows life to reduce stress.

hmmm *goes to look for some more info*

Yes, as far as I know goldstone is manmade and I too have heard both of those explanations for it. There are also different colors of it. I have one that is copper with gold flecks (I think that's just referred to as goldstone) and I have a purple goldstone also. It's gorgeous!

Yes, Goldstone *is* manmade. It comes in a coppery colour, and a dark purply blue. I have some blue goldstone beads that I just love. I don't use goldstone for ritual though, because it is manmade, and I prefer natural stones for magick.

I own many in both colours. I also use them frequently in my ritual work as I feel they are a tribute to my magickal ancestry.

Just imagine, a dark, smokey chamber near the dungeons of the castle. A huge hearth with a roaring fire and a cauldron bubbling. Crude shelves with pottery containers filled with unspeakable contents. A staff leans in one corner. The heat of the room would be overpowering, yet the man we see working over a high table is oblivious to the heat. Slowly he speaks a whispered incantation. The King's magician working with chips of gold, sand, crystals, some say pieces of the stars to make the all powerful golden nuggett. The true ruler of those times, for he who had the gold made the rules! The failures, the second, the third, the hundredth attempt to please a greedy monarch.

And not until today are those glorious stones appreciated for their beauty and worth! Is not that effort which led to the death of so many worthy of stones acceptable to the Goddess in ritual?

Yes but if man is natural, is not what he creates natural by extension as well? :)

Goldstone - Medium brown with tiny coppery glitter.
Reported to be a man-made form of sunstone originally created when alchemists were working towards creating gold.
Gently uplifting, mildly helpful to solar plexus CTR, to reduce stomach tension, protect center of body.

Namaste,

the so called "Goldstone" comes in two colours: redish brown with gold/silver glitter and indigo blue with silver/gold glitter.

Both stones are manmade. In fact they are pottery made of clay and copper. Originally they were made in the dolomites by monks "to the honour of God" which means they tried to make Gold out of other materials (alchemy). The secret was well kept, and even rumours spread that this stone was naturarly found in mines. Funny enough, no-one ever could specify a mine where this stone came from. The chinese, world famous for their knowledge on pottery/china making soon discovered the secret how to make this stone. Nowadays, the most exciting material actually comes from china and not italy/austria any more.

This manmade stone is related to healing capacities regarding psychosomatic illnesses related to body-identity and weight: anorexia, bulimia, diets, body-building and or surgery dependency etc. It brings gently into flow, as well on the financial as also on the physical plane.

It is often mistaken for sun-stone, a fieldspar (related to moonstone, labradorite etc). You will find more information on my "online museum" site (http://www.czechwoodsgems.com)

peace along your paths

I have a piece of the blue goldstone. It is really pretty. I like looking at it in the light and catching all the bits of copper in the matrix.

I recently purchased some green goldstone.

(I already have the blue... which I adore... and I have some copper, but this was the first of the green I have found. Apparently, you can find them online too.)

I read that gold stone was made when some monks were melting glass and copper and accidently knocked or poured the copper into the glass. I really don't mind the idea of that... makes me think of the elements blended together... metal (earth), glass (water), fire to melt them, and air to cool them.

But regardless I just like them. that's just me.

Finally! (And let me tell you, my internet put up quite a fight letting me get these up! Had to email them to my office. 8O)

There are three types in these pictures (but not the full collection... I have a lot of blue). I think this will help represent the difference of colors.

The smaller dark one is the green goldstone.

Sorry for the delay.

My cats were having a field day playing with the stones when I was trying to get a better shot. Got a lot of nice pictures of them batting the stones around and looking at me as if to say, "And? What did you expect?"

(Impatience... no problem. I needed the reminder!)

I think that deep blue goldstone would be a perfect material to make (tacky) items associated with / to honour the Star Goddess.

*laughs*

I'm pretty tacky I guess... cause if the stone wasn't too sparkly or dull and was just a feminine shape (even those silly quartz angels I see selling), I'd love it. Not for a goddess or anything just just because it'd be neat. I love blue goldstone. 8O
