Arianrhod, Lady of the Silver Wheel
~ Dark Moon ~
Arianrhod of Wales was a Dark Moon goddess. Her symbols, like those of Cerridwen, were the cauldron and the white sow. Her Silver Wheel, sometimes portrayed as a paddle-wheeled boat which carried souls to their starry home, may have been symbolic of the zodiac and its signs (the wheel-spokes).
Arianrhod was called Silver Wheel, High Fruitful Mother, Star Goddess, Sky Goddess, and Goddess of Reincarnation. Her palace was called Caer Arianrhod (Aurora Borealis). She was the keeper of the circle Silver Wheel of Stars, a symbol of time and karma. This wheel was also known as the Oar Wheel, a ship which carried dead warriors to the Moon-land (Emania). Her original consort was Nwyvre (Sky or Firmament). She was also the mother of Lleu Llaw Gyffes and Dylan by her brother Gwydion. Arianrhod had power over beauty, fertility, karma, and reincarnation.
You will need a green candle on your altar; a wand; the pentacle; a metal bowl large enough to burn papers; several small pieces of paper, and a pencil. This ritual can be part of your regular ritual or performed by itself.
Write your dreams and desires on the papers, one desire to a small sheet. Lay the papers on the pentacle with the wand on top of them. Take the ritual dagger in your power hand. Go to the East; say:
Awake, O Gods of Air!
Blow out the old!
Bring in the new on your winds of change.
Go to the South; say:
Awake, O Gods of Fire!
Burn away the endings that hold me back.
Shine your gentle rays upon new goals.
Move to the West; say:
Awake, O Gods of Water!
Cleanse my life of unnecessary and harmful habits.
Drop your spring rains upon me for growth.
Finish by going to the North. Say:
Awake, O Gods of Earth!
Let your renewing magick bury old ways,
And open new paths before me.
Take up the wand and lightly tap the papers seven times.
Pick up one paper and hold the end of the wand against it. Visualize a stream of brilliant white light emanating from the wand and penetrating the paper. If the light does not stay white, reread the desire and decide if it is really good for you. If it isn't, discard the paper, reword the desire, or perhaps save it for another time. If the light stays a pure-white, light the paper from the candle and drop it carefully into the metal bowl. For each burned paper, say:
To the winds of heaven and to the Gods,
I give these thought-desires for manifestation.
Let the ashes cool overnight. The next morning carefully discard them. If possible, bury them or cast them into flowing water. A good flush down the toilet counts.
Now is an excellent time to do a meditation in which you ask to be shown past lives, particularly ones which have a bearing on your present life. Prepare for a past life meditation by chanting:
Ancient One of reincarnation and rebirth,
Open the doors to my past lives.
I would correct all errors and relearn all skills,
That I may walk a free pathway.
Starry Arianrhod, show the proper way to go.
