Britton Cole Lewis, 29, pleaded guilty in May to shooting the condor, North America's largest land bird according to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. "I can honestly say I knew nothing about these condors," Lewis told a magistrate judge before sentencing. "I sincerely wish I could take back what I've done."

20,000 is enough to bankrupt most people. On top of that he dosent keep the bird and any future transgretions with the FaG department will double the fines involved. Its sad that the creature died but at this point I believe the guys learned his lesson. Always know what your shooting.

I remember a similar news story a while back. Two guys killed a bald eagle & took pictures of each other with the bird. The teenager who worked at the photo lab developing pics turned them in to the DNR. As I recall, there were similar fines, & the one who actually shot the eagle went to jail.
That guy who shot the condor should be flogged.
