This is now the second Moonstone that has disappeared on me, no idea where it has gone. I keep them in a special glass bowl to cleanse them in sea salt, etc. and it is no longer there. I have checked everywhere. As well this time my Apache Tear has also seems to have gone along with it. Debating as to whether to get a third Moonstone...beginning to wonder if this is some sort of sign???:eyebro:

Well my special glass cup with salt, and the stones being cleansed turned up with water in it...

I didn't put it there and my altar is to high for my children to reach...

Talk about puzzled!

Stones do that a lot...
disappear, i mean.

A friend of mine who is also psychic came gave me an explanation for this kind of "disappearing act."

She said that sometimes stones need a break or vacation from us and they will turn up when we need them again. :)

I hope she's right about this--I've had one of my favorite amethyst pieces MIA for a few years now.

Maybe moonstone isn't right for you right now. If it's a rainbow moonstone--try a labradorite. They are both feldspar stones and have very similar qualities to them, metaphysically speaking.

If it is a milky moonstone, why not try a white calcite as a replacement?

It all depends on what you are using them for or why you wanted that particular stone.

If you were going for the metaphysical properties, the suggestions above might help you a bit. But if it was simply because you like the stone for the stone itself, why not try getting another piece? Maybe the right piece of moonstone is just waiting for you and the other ones that have gone away know that they are not right for you.

I'd be kind of interested to see if it happens again! :D

My first rose quartz disappeared on me once I didn't need it anymore and showed up over a year later when I needed it again. Another rose quartz has vanished recently and I really really miss it. But hopefully it will turn up again like the other. :)

Well, could've been the Wee folk. i leave them quartz crystal shards I get from this one store I visit. Then that way, they leave my "good" stones be.

I also heard a story once, that stones "leave" when their job is done.

I had an amethyst, that I LOVED. First, it's my favorite stone and second, the person who gave it to me was VERY special friend. I carried it everywhere with me and then one day *poof* it was gone. I was so sad. I still miss it sometimes.

I have a problem with disappearing stones all the time..it's called Penny! My one little cat can not seem to help herself when it comes to "collecting" stones and crystals. Eventually they do turn back up, until she steals them again. I have read in several sources, that sometimes stones will go missing when they are no longer needed, sort of moving on to the next person who needs them.

Stones come to you when they are needed (one way or another) and they move on to help others when others need them.

But I agree with SugarMags. Leave a gift for the fairies and tell them plainly to not take your stones. Tell them, you are offering them (whatever stone you want to give them) and you'd appreciate if they would leave yours in thier place. In fact, leaving a gift now and asking for the others back, might get them returned. ;)

Don't give up on it. Everyone needs moonstone.

Thank-you all, I think I will wait another month to see what happens - if either will come back and if not I will get yet another. I really like the energy the moonstone gives off and miss having it around. And I like the suggestion about the shards.

I had this happen with a quartz crystal that I was very close to in highschool. It was missing for 6 years, I actually thought my mother had thrown it out! (She said she was going to if she found it lying around again.) 3 moves and 3.000 miles later, it turned up mysteriously in a cigar box as I was decluttering! Very weird.

I agree that they will leave to recoup sometimes. I had the same thing happen with some Bloodstones.

I was having some serious health problems last year and got several Bloodstones to keep with me. I kept losing them! They would just dissappear. Sometimes I would find one a few weeks later and others not at all. I finally asked the lady at the metaphysical shop I go to, why it was that they kept leaving me. She said that when they have absorbed all they can (as in relieving stress or illness) that they will then dissappear so they can cleanse themselves.

Since then I have conquered the illness I had (an autoimmune condition) and haven't lost one since then. :)

I also had given one to a friend of mine who has Lupus. I warned her that it might leave her. She said "there's no way I'm going to lose it. I'm going to keep it right in a special place all the time.". Well,.. I asked her about it the other day, and Yup... It's gone.

Bloodstones are excellent stones to use for illnesses! Not just because they are green (healing) but they are stones who are known for actually giving their life up for you. The red in the stones tends to disappear as you use it and you heal. :)

Wow,... I had no idea! Thanks for the info. :)

I just knew that I was really drawn to them when I was sick. As for the red disappearing,.. I didn't notice that so much but I really wasn't paying attention either. I was just trying to keep track of them. ha  :)

The only stone I have a problem keeping is tigereye, but I think I leave them in my pocket and they get washed. Do washing machines eat stones the way they eat socks?

Stones often leave you, or are taken (perhaps by the wee folk) when they can be of better use elsewhere, or as another pointed out, they need a vacation and to be returned to the earth so that they can recharge through mother earth over time.

I lost a very dear ring to me, which costed well in the hundreds. Gold with a large hunk of opal (my birthstone) fixed to it that was a gift from my mother. It worked amazingly well for me in all my endeavors, but it eventually vanished. I was saddened for many reasons over this for a long time. For one, it was a precious gift from the person most dear to me, and second, I felt immensely linked to it. However, I'm sure it is where it needs to be for now and I have learned my lesson, never let anyone else buy me anything that expensive again that is fixated with a stone, or buy one myself. With the way stones seem to work, it's financially unsound.

As for your moonstones that keep disappearing, or for anyone who keeps losing a stone of a specific type repeatedly, perhaps your vibrational pattern simply does not meld well with that stone and you repel like oil and water. It could be that this is not the time for you to work with that stone, or an indefinite thing. I know of one practioner who simply does not do well with green malachite in the least, never has, and probably never will.

I myself seem to lose quite a bit of amber.

Beautifully said. I had tried to say that but my fingers got all askew whilst typing them!

I have a few stones that I'm not exactly attracted to, but the ones that I am...I have MORE than my share of! :T :T :T

Incidentally, my mother had a ring that was custom made for her with blue topaz and amethyst emerald cut stones in sterling.

During a very traumatic time in her life, she "blew" the stones right out of the ring!

These stones were securely prong set and in very thick silver--yet when she started concentrating on getting rid of her negativity, the stones just burst out of the ring giving their lives up for her.

She told me that even though she was heartbroken to lose the stones, it was a true turning point for her. After that, much of the negativity vanished.

She still has the sterling setting in case one day she decides to have the stones replaced. :)

My stories on stones 'vanishing' or stone mishaps are quite literally endless. I had a pentacle pendant once, and each point upon the pentagram (the actual star for those who do not know) had a stone affixated to it. Now, I'm not quite sure if they were real stones or not to be honest, but there was a yellow one for air, red for fire, etc. Well, a rather frustrating occurance in high school finally caused me to lose my cool as all the parties involved, save for me, seemed blatantly unwilling to resolve the matter with any sort of reason. I finally just exploded in class one day as a situation concerning the matter was causing me some distress, a door slammed shut (a telekinetic experience, and truly I can count these experiences on one hand, so these are very rare and never controlled), and the red stone popped right out and.. vanished. I looked for it on the floor after the class ended, but to no avail.

I cannot personally think of any stone that does not meld with me. Perhaps it is because anytime I begin to study a stone (before ever using it) I meditate on it, try to discern its personality and spiritual vibration so I can attune myself with it. That may be it, or it could simply be a fluke. Who knows.

maybe that's why i kept forgetting my amber earrings at my friend's house. not to mention just about anything else i own, at one time or another. :) seriously though, right before i shipped to germany, i lost my pentacle necklace. being nervous of a long flight over water in particular and my first duty station in general, there was NO WAY i was going without a pentacle, so i went to the mall and got a huge flashy one. next day i found the original pentacle on the floor of my closet. i wore them both on the flight.

Guess what came back to me today?? The second rose quartz that disappeared! Guess where it was? In the backyard, half buried in the ground. And was it alone? No! Huddled next to it was a clear quartz I hadn't even realized was missing. It was so crazy, I just took the dog outside, glanced down and there they were. Don't know what they were doing out there, but no matter. I feel content again. :heyalove:

How wonderful. I'm happy for you. :)

I only have one incident involving something like that. A poppet doll of mine I buried on my property (to attract things), wound up tied to our chain-link gate (cause we have a pool) with an inverted pentagram drawn on it. I never did figure out how that happened, or what the purpose of it was. Occurred years ago. *shrugs*

Perhaps this though serves to stand as proof that your stones were ready to return to you, and never truly wished to leave your presence (cause your energy vibrations may work so well together), but desperately needed to recharge themselves.
