I read in Cunningham that this stone is quite rare, but I found an Indian sunstone while I was on holiday at a rock shop. Does anyone else have an Indian sunstone, and if so, what kind of energies do you feel from it?
I always find it as a very dynamic stone. I was so excited to find it because I felt a connection to it immediately.

Hey Silver,
Let me give you some info. :)
First off, as much as I love the Cunningham book...it is quite out dated. For example according to his book, fluorites were "just discovered and little is known about them yet." And we all know how much has been written on the stones since then. :D
Sunstones are from the feldspar family--just like moonstones, labradorites and amazonites--they are powerful healing stones.
Since they are orange they are associated with the 3rd Chakra and are great for healing stomach ailments. Or can be used as a meditation stone while incorporating Chakra allignment.
As their name suggests, they are associated with the sun and sun God.
Their inclusions (what gives them their particular sparkle) are composed of hematite specks!
Healing powers (metaphysical properties) include: treatment of sore throats, stomach ulcers and spinal problems (again, 3rd Chakra components). They help in cleansing the body of negative energies that can slow you down bringing you a feeling of invigoration and enthusiasm.
Because Sunstones are considered "male" stones, they are great to have around to help bring success, luck and self-confidence.
They are gorgeous stones and they can be found quite easily these days both as tumbled stones and in jewelry.
I hope this info helps ya'! :smooch:

Thanks WtchyChick, that was helpful.
I didn't realise Cunningham was so outdated. Still love that book though - it's such an interesting read and a good starting point, I suppose, huh?

Glad to have helped!
It's not so much that the book is outdated as that he passed away just when a new wealth of information was being discovered on various new stones.
His book is DEFINATELY a good starting point and contains a lot of great info!
:D
