How can I go about my dedication ritual without attracting the attention of my parents? I have a large area in which to go about it, but I'm a little stuck on how I can without attracting any serious curiousity or potential persecuting from my parents? better yet, how should I go about the ritual?
Blessings,
Adra

How do you think you're going to attract their attention? In other words, what about the ritual do you think is going to attract attention? Do you have a space available for the ritual and a time to do it? Do you know what you want to do?

There are many dedication rituals in books, do you have any in mind?

well by dedication ritual I mean dedicating myself to my path. There is one dedication ritual that Patricia Telesco gave in one of her books, that is the only one I know of, and it entitles some candles and insence and things of that nature. I plan to do it in september, at around the full moon. and yes I do have space to do it in (my bedroom) but the scents of candles and inscence seem to float right through my door, so everyone would know that I was "working" in my room. My mother doesnt seem to have any problems with the path I have chosen, but she doesnt like it because of my stepdad, who would likely smack me with a bible telling me I'm evil and try to kick me out of the house if he ever found out that I am still on this path(he knows I was working with spells and studying a few years ago but he thinks I stopped).

Close the door and open the windows? Or do it when he's not home? Or ask a friend to do it at their house? Or don't use candles or incense at all?

I understand where you are coming from...and like the last poster...you could go without the candles I guess....

if you need to represent fire...could you not use a piece of handmade pottery? It's made with fire and earth..not to mention hands of skill...(heehee I know this bc I am a potter)...preferably I would use a piece of Raku pottery which comes in contact with direct flames and organic material in the finishing process.

for air you can use a bell or windchime to symbolize air and the sound travels on the air (so to speak)

water is pretty easy to get.

Do you have a park in your area where you could go and have privacy?

Hope these ideas help you.
