One question ... how can you tell if a spell works or not?

Recently, I did a spell (my my partners permission) to help him keep his job ... only he lost it anyway ... I'm guessing it was meant to be, but is there any real way to tell if it worked? Other spells I have done, I've gotten signs that have told me they've worked ... and thus given thanks.

Well, these things work in mysterious ways, and the universe often interprets your needs differently then you might.

If you did a spell to help him keep his job, it's entirely possible that the universe took that in more general terms, to keep him in a stable, productive job. Perhaps it knew that there was no way for your partner to keep his current job, so it's instead leading him towards another job that will be more stable and productive.

I have an odd outlook on spells - it's not that I think people shouldn't do them at all or that I don't, but I tend to think if they don't work as we planned they simply weren't meant to. Your partner is meant to find opportunities elsewhere. It's not like you can do spells the wrong way - it either worked or it wasn't meant to, so it doesn't matter if it worked or not. Either way he'll get to where he's supposed to.
