I'm just wondering what other's experiences are in passing through the perimeter of a Circle without cutting a "doorway" first. I've only ever done it once, and it is not an experience I would like to repeat anytime soon  It was about 8 years ago, and it was the very first time I shared a ritual with someone (my boyfriend at the time, who was also Pagan, though not Wiccan). We were doing a full-moon ritual, and had brought quartz crystal points to charge in the light of the moon. Well, by the time we got to that point of the ritual, we couldn't see the moon from where we had cast our Circle, so, being the newbie I was, I just walked off to where I would be able to see the moon over the trees. OOPS!!! J just stood there looking like a truck had hit him, and I felt light headed, and like I'd just fallen off a cliff and left my stomach behind. Not pleasant - but it did reinforce in me that what I was doing was real, and powerful, and my non-believing friends were full of you-know-what :D

The only time I have ever forgotten to cut a doorway was about three months ago (out of a 6 or so year career believe it or not. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.) when I was working magick for peace and tranquility as I had reached my living end with the pile of monstrousities (otherwise known as problems) I was facing. I imagine in all the stress I was experiencing it completely slipped my mind.
I went to walk through, and I was shocked (much like static electricity). Now it may have been my eyes playing tricks on me, or sending feedback to my brain to explain the shock I felt on my hands (they were what first went through), but I could have sworn I saw small, very faint, white sparks, much like electricity for only a brief nano second. Right after that I felt something 'push' me back. This was all very instantaneous, but the way it sounds when I type it up is as though it took a minute or two. The entire ordeal could not have lasted more than 3 seconds total.

I haven't walked through a circle without a doorway myself, but was in a circle with my small group when one of the other guys did. I don't know what it felt like for him, but I sure felt something... a brief sudden shock, almost like an impact. The energy was simply gone from the circle.

I once forgot something I wanted to have in the circle with me and was so intent on getting it that I stepped out of the circle without cutting the doorway. Nothing happened like the other posts described, but I definitely felt the difference in energy. It was like I had walked through a very cold spot that gave me chills. Once I was back inside the circle and sealed it, I felt warm again.

I've forgotten to cut a doorway most of the time! with no ill effects. In a public circle, a loved one would have to be dying to get me to leave. At home, it's usually because I've forgotten something and I will go get it if I can't do without it.
I feel much more strongly about not leaving in a group circle and I never have left one.
