...TILL I'M IN CRETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My heart is racing non-stop, I'm so freaking excited.

All I wanna do at work is look at Crete sites and flesh out my itinerary.

I bought a big suitcase so I can stuff it with Greek stuff, and a new bikini :)

My mom is taking my kids to the mountains for a week, and my husband (poor thing) will be working on the remodeling. (He gets to go somewhere tropical in February, when he'll really want it!)

I'm totally useless :)

So I get to work this morning and receive a phone call from my girlfriend who is frantic. The EU countries have made it virtually impossible for anyone from Indonesia to get into their countries. So, we're not going to Crete in 17 days. I am in shock. I thought all the difficult things had been taken care of and all I had to do was pack.

This is some of what she needs to provide to get a visa. She has to buy her ticket (she already has) before she can get her visa. So they could turn her down at the check-out counter, and at this point I would already be halfway there....

1) return tickets (this is no problem)
2) bank account statements
3) credit card proof (both no problem)
4) guarantee/sponsor letter from employer which has to be legalised by the ministry of justice and the ministry of foreign affairs
5) employing company's legal status and tax creditation copies which have to be legalisaed by the ministry of justice and the ministry of foreign affairs
6) letter of guarantee/sponsor from a male kin (father/brother/husband) along with family-ID card which have to be legalised by the ministry of justice and the ministry of foreign affairs
7) to bring minimum US1000 into greece

So, I'm not going to Crete.

Hopefully my travel agent can get some of my money back and we can figure out where we'll meet instead. She really wants me to come to Bali but the tix are $1600+ and I'm a bit anxious about going there. Tix to Thailand are about $700, so we may end up there.

I'm just completely overwhelmed....I have so much work to catch up before my original leave date, and now I have to completely re-plan the whole dang trip.

I suggested Australia - always wanted to go - but Nani thinks she may have a hard time getting into that country as well....because of the Bali bombing. Wherever we're going to meet, we have to decide in the next 24 hours or so....I just hope I can get refunded for my original ticket.:geez: What a totally screwed up mess.

I'm going to Thailand! I bought my ticket last night and the time-share we belong to has 2 places to stay...one in Bangkok and one in Pattaya Beach. I think Bangkok would be better to be based out of...but then again I like the beach. I have to decide today. My girlfriend is in a jungle in Borneo and has no internet connection so I have to make all the decisions on my own :geez:...Goddess help us!!:)

I've lost a few hundred dollars due to ticket cancellation, but Thailand tix were cheaper than Crete tix, so I think I'll still have some spending money.

wooo hooo way to go!

bangkok is supposed to have the better shopping
whereas pataya beach has the reputation of being very expensive
