View Full Version : Stone for Friendship?

I'm going to be going away to University (college...for any MWers on the other side of the pond) and I wanted to take a stone with me that would attract new friends, since I won't know anyone there. My first thought was to charge a rose quartz and take it, but rose quartz is often associated with love too, and I'm not trying to attract attention of that kind, so could anyone suggest a more appropriate gemstone? Or do you think rose quartz would be ok after all?
Thanks in advance. :)

I use rose quartz. I would also associate citrine with friendship largely because of it's warmth and bright, friendly colour. I consider pink, yellow, and orange to be colours of friendship, and I'd think of sunflower seeds, oranges, tulips, daisies, and cinnamon too. YMMV (your mileage may vary) :)

Here's a list of what you could use depending on the situation and desire:
Rose Quartz: Compassion, endearing friendships (just state your intent clearly)
Amethyst: Friends of like mind, or easy going friends.
Quartz crystal: Truthful people and loyal friends.
Citrine: Happy-go-lucky people and very cheerful.
Malachite: Those of like mind in terms of spirituality.
These have worked for me in the past, but of course, definitions vary from person to person, use what suits you.

**smiles** I give rose quartz. Or else, feathers. (It's a bird-person thing.)

Nothing draws people to me like my amber jewelry. I think citrine is also a good suggestion, but for me, amber works best. :)

:rotfl: I tried that once and the look I got from the person was priceless--let's just say, I haven't tried that again! :rotfl:
(Plus, I don't think my birdie was all to thrilled about it either.)
Personally, I like to give amethyst. Mainly it's because it's such an amazing healing stone that if they need a little boost or would like to keep it as a "worry" stone or whatever, it seems to go over well. Plus, it seems to attract people to people. Whenever I wear a piece of amethyst, someone inevitably asks about it. :)
Ametrine is also a good one. Since it is a combination of both amethyst and citrine, it has the properties of both stones combined. Pluse it exudes positive energies and because of the citrine, never needs to be cleansed. :D

**laughs** Disclaimer: I have never plucked feathers from my cockatiels in order to give them to people.
I only use ones that have been molted, or else that I have found. I usually only give cockatiel feathers. But in the case of my heart-sisters and soul brother, I gave a peacock feather.
I even have a certain feather combination that is tantamount to a marriage proposal -- cockatiel tail feather for friendship and love, peacock tail feather for admiration and the spiritual side of me, and a raven/crow tail feather that symbolizes Me (the whole package: heart, body, soul).

Oh I never thought that someone would think I was plucking them!
My baby is very protective of her feathers after she's molted and gives the "evil eye" when I take any off the pile. :rotfl:

Ahhhhhhh. **nods in sudden understanding** tika always used to be very possessive of *his* fallen feathers, too. Tris just doesn't care. Sometimes, there's such a similarity between the two featherheads, but other times, it's like night and day.
The only stones I wouldn't give to someone are hematite and some other stone that has a lot of male energy in it. Can't stand the feel of either one. I can't touch them. (I used to joke with my roommates, who love hematite, that I would only touch the jewelry in an emergency. But if they had on that other stone, they were S.O.L.)

Marcasite to enhance your "network building abilities" plus working with spider
thulitt to invite warm close friendships through confidence.
Just thinking, what do you do to keep contact with the ones you leave behind at home???? light spectrolite for physical friends dark for non physical friends :-)

If I could step in for a sec...(and just to clarify for some):
Marcasite is actually small pieces of hematite. I love the stuff! I've only given one piece of jewelry away with a marcasite setting and that was to one of my psychics who really needed to block the negative energies surrounding her.
Now, by "ligh spectrolite" do you mean rainbow moonstone or a lighter labradorite? Spectrolite is just another name for these stones (feldspars) and it really depends on where you are from and what you are used to as to what they are called. :D
(I hope I didn't step on any toes there, just wanted everyone to be on the same page.) :smooch:

Umm okay...maybe we have some problems with the language barrier here, no I am not talking about the small pieces of hematite, yes thinking about it I have heard about that, slipped my mind....but the marcasite that is a variation (slightly different crystal structure) of pyrite....Umm I did check that name with a listing of norwegian/english names...some misunderstanding or some ones blunder here....or maybe one name used differently in different settings.....anyway the same mineral but slightly different crystal structure from pyrite... i guess pyrite would work just fine to...
Spectrolite....my mistake yes I should have specified to be absolutly correct...but again habit....i am talking about light/dark labradorite....

Oh I'm so sorry if you thought I was being mean. :(
I just know that sometimes people know stones by different names and I just wanted to make sure that we all could learn about the same stones together.
Pyrite is indeed used for some marcasite but more times than most it is small pieces of hematite (at least in the states) it could be all pyrite in other areas. :)
I hope there are no hard feelings? :smooch:
