I'm in the process of gathering materials to make a witches/wiccan rosary and have heard talk of people charging these sorts of things with their own energy. Now is this as simple as just creating the peice? Or is it something more?

Can anybody help me out?
Thanks.

Charging means filling the object with a specific energy.

Cleansing means getting rid of energies already in the object, consecrating means giving the object a purpose.. For example you might cleanse an amulet, consecrate it for protection, and charge it full of protection energy.

My understanding is a bit different than Rain's (though her's is no less valid, mind you).

Cleanse: To remove all unwanted and possibly negative energy and vibrations from the object, person, and/or place.

Consecrate: To bless the object, person, and/or place.

Empower: To imbue the object, person, and/or place with energy. This can be your own energy, the energy of a specific element, the energy of the divine (god/ddess, spirit, etc.), or energy relating to a specific purpose such as protection, luck, tranquility, so forth and so on.

Oh I think you're right too :) If you look up consecrate in the dictionary (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=consecrate) it refers to making something sacred and dedicating it to a service or goal. I think that includes blessing it as well as giving it a purpose.

I thought a rosary was only Catholic or Christian? But definitely clue me in about this, sounds kind of interesting.

Think of it this way: Same effect, just a different religious affiliation.

I am curious though, what various supplies do you have in mind, currently have, or are looking for to make this rosary with?

Well I'm looking at getting a pentacle (I have one, but I don't want to give it up to my rosary) or maybe a celtic cross ... and then, maybe using beads instead of gemstones (cause I don't have that much money) then making it into a necklace ...

I'm probably going to use purple and rose coloured beads and well as silver and pearls (colour wise) ...

I believe there's a link to a thread on a Witches' Rosary in Freyja's Book of Shadows thread.

Sounds great, especially since those are three of my favorite colors. Just be sure to tie the knots very well, cause I've had far too many necklaces come apart that way and lost many precious beads that way.

Don't worry I plan to
