I'm an avid fan of D&D, though I know no one to play pen and paper with and the crpgs within the D&D genre I am simply fed up with. They are never done right (which everything cannot be translated to a crpg, I know, but most if it appears to be outright laziness or unwillingness).
I used to play Magic: The Gathering, and in fact I fount one of my old decks the other day (which is all I have left), a mix of white and (my favorite) blue.

I used to play Magic, and even played it online when they first came out with the concept and it was still in trials and therefore free. However, I don't have any cards at home anymore (I think I sold them in my moving sale).
Edited to add that I used to play AD&D when I was in highschool and in my first couple of years of university. I haven't done anything like that for about 5 years though.... no one to play with anymore.

We still play D&D (we vary the edition, though lately, its been 3rd (no not 3.5, just 3)) about once a month or so. Depends on who wants to take DMing duties.

I used to play Magic when it first came out. In fact, I've been trying to get rid of my cards for a few years now!
I have a ton of them and understand them to be worth anywhere from $700 to over $1000.
Anyone wanna make an offer??? :heybaby: :hehehehe: :nyah:

I never got into Magic card game. I tried a couple of times with my brother, and didn't like it. Never even bothered buying any of the decks. Now rpg with pencil and paper (1st edition DnD here :reading: ) I do play when I find time, and players.

I've been playing AD&D since 1981. Frankly I liked 1st Edition the best. We're playing 3rd Edition now and I'm having a hard time learning all the changes. We play once a month, at least most months. I used to belong to a club that met once a week. Now that's some gaming. I've always been curious about live-action RPG. Anyone here do that? Can you tell me a little bit about it?

dang it!! you should've brought them down last month!!! J-man would've probably taken a few off your hands!
I play D&D. In fact, I'm going to a gaming con this weekend in NJ. I play 3 and 3.5. It's been so long since I played 2nd ed. that I shy away from it. I'm also part of the RPGA. Yep, that's me...Mom the geek!
Eshallet plays Warhammer 40k and this new game coming out called "Confrontation"
J-man plays Magic and Warhammer as well.
We're a gaming geeky family. Can you feel the LOVE!!! :heartthro :heartthro

The BF is an RPG nut. He's always playing D&D, either 2nd or 3rd edition (they play online, on these boards (http://twister.dragon-wing.org/boards/yabb.pl), if anyone here is interested - they're trying to start online freeform too).
He also has a $15,000 Magic: The Gathering collection. We play every so often, usually his blue deck against my green one (go, little thoughtleech, go!). We haven't played in a while actually, but we did manage to get a friend of mine in Nova Scotia into it.
You don't have to pay to play M:tG online. Look for a program called Apprentice. You can build your decks with whatever cards you want, and you connect directly to other people using their IP. That's how I play with my friend in N.S.

I quite often go to an RGP message board on http://planetadnd.com . They have the good board and the evil board there. The good board is moderated a kind of a bit strict, and the evil boards is just about a free-for-all. So one has a choice.

Used to play magic, but ran out of interested parties to play with. Still have my favourite two decks tho.
Play AD&D when I get the chance, which is sadly not often these days. My big thing is LRP, played vampire for about 3 years, and am really getting into the fantasy LARP thing. Only the other weekend I was running around with pointy ears and a big latex sword:) Already working on costume for my next event, which isn't until easter sadly... And I belong to a couple of free form online rp groups too.
One warning for anyone thinking of taking up this hobby tho, rp fast takes over all your spare time if you let it.

Oh, we're such sad role-players, aren't we Sianand? We've been involved in soooo many different systems between us, haven't we? Should I attempt to name all the ones I've done? I think I might....;
Card Games: Magic The Gathering, Jyhad, Legend of the Five Rings,
Tabletop Campaigns: D&D, AD&D, Vampire The Masquerade, Wraith, Mage The Ascension, Werewolf, Changeling The Dreaming, Call Of Cthulu,
Live Systems; UK Masquerade, Cthulu Live, The Lorien Trust system, UK Camerilla, Mage Live,
I'm on the waiting list for a life, seeing as I stopped feeding mine and it wandered away... ;)

There's a group of seven of us who get together every Sunday night for RPG purposes. Currently we are playing a Bureau 13 game (TriTac).
We're starting a new D&D game as soon as the Bureau 13 campaign ends (about 3 or 4 weeks).
My D&D (AD&D 3rd Edition) character is a female cleric who worships Sharess. Now THERE is a stretch, for me... NOT.

I play Magic. Almost all my friends do too, so it's easy to find someone to play with. I've been playing for about 3 years, but I'm still not half as good as some of my friends, who have won some serious money from
playing. I even have one friend who's so good at the game, he "retired" because it was too boring for him. No one was even a challenge anymore. I think I'm a decent player though. I started out playing with expert cards. I have way too many cards for that matter. I play with 8 different decks, and I have tons of extras I can't trade away.

Yeah, I was never as good as my friends either. Half of them were big tournament players and like your mates made a hell of a lot of money playing. I did have one true moment of glory tho in a multiplayer game when I not only won, I destroyed all the other players simultaneously. Shame it just turned out to be beginners luck :)

I had one of those moments too. I was playing with 2 of my other friends who had been playing for years. So they of course had a better decks than mine and were only concentrating on beating one another in the beginning because it would be stupid to worry about me, the newbie.
It was funny, because I beat the crap out of them, and they had good hands too. I never beat them like that again, but hey, at least it happened once ;)

well that works I guess... I'd only ever come across a die roller in one online game and I got told they were really hard to find.. but that was a couple of years ago. I don't like rolling your own and posting the results coz I once played like this and inevitably at some point in the game peoples started accusing other people of cheating (which at least some of them probably were), and of course it couldn't be proved either way. All of a sudden it's just one huge argument and the role play stops..
I'll have to check out your role play forum, sounds like it could be fun!
RAven: The chat room thing seems like a great idea, but in my experience it's hard to keep up coz people can't always be online at the right time

I used to be a HUGE AD&D player. But my favorite game was one called Space Traveller. A very unique concept int that you were a sp[ace "warrior/bandit", and your weapon choices ranged from high tech laser and pulse guns to rapiers and muskets of old.
I am still looking for an original publishing of the game, as it came in a one volume book. It's been re-published in different forms, but I at one time had the original circa 1984? or so.
I also played Top Secret. Best spy based game I've found!
I haven't played any of these in years. Once I'm finally single I may start looking for a group to play again. Anyone know of a group finding service online? That would be kind of neat.
I also used to be fascinated by the whole medeival (sic?) genre. I can get back into that again also! I think I'll start by going to the Ren Fair here in PA. Cool
(This whole post has been train-of-thought, brought to you by the influence of LOTR Two Towers, which I am currently watching.)

Which means that I've spent most of my life swearing at dice. :geez::lol: I knew someone who liked to throw their dice across the room and break them. Normally d20s. One day, as a joke I took my giant dice made out of foam rubber. Someone from our group looked at it and showed this dice-throwing person "Hey, she's got the perfect dice for ya!"

I'm actually quite horrible with my dice. I've got like 8 sets and I only use 2. When one set goes bad, I let others use them. Once they get good again, I'll use them... I give the bad dice juju to those I dislike but have to play with... *winks*

I have...*counts*...at least 6 sets. But thier big sets (4 of each size except d6...which is 8). I freely let others use my dice except one set which I use exclusively when I DM. Mainly because of my "Purple People Eater". A d20 that gives some wicked rolls when I want them too. I've managed to finish off a PC or 2. :gagged: Did I say that out loud?

Don't get me started on dice... For some reason, any pc's I play who are superbly genned up always roll badly, while those that are on paper quite rubbish seem to succeed really well at whatever they try to do... My dice seem to find it amusing to mess with my head...
