PRESS RELEASE - For Distribution
Coming Out of the Broom Closet on Pagan Pride Day 2003
HIGHLAND PARK - Central New Jersey's first Annual Pagan Pride Day to
benefit Middlesex County Food Outreach Organization and Distribution
Systems (MCFOODS) will be held on Saturday September 13th, 2003.
Due to recent bad weather and flooding, MCFOOD's stock has been
nearly depleted. The event is free and open to the public. We ask
that everyone attending please bring a food donation to help
replenish the food supply.
The food drive takes place in gratitude for our diverse and bountiful
harvests along with a Pagan religious ceremony celebrating the Autumn
Equinox. The significance of the Autumn Equinox is a time of
Thanksgiving for the harvests.
Modern Paganism, or Neo-Paganism, is a rapidly growing religious
movement based on combinations of ancient polytheism, modern
spirituality, care and preservation of the sacred land, and reverence
for the Divine as both masculine and feminine. This event, has
previously been held in North Jersey and New York City and is one of
over 117 events planned worldwide in September. The object of the
event is to acquaint non-Pagans with the diversity, beauty and
positive community impact of the presence of Pagan religions in
local communities.
Saturday's activities for Pagan Pride Day will take place at Johnson
Park, Grove 2 beginning at 10:30 AM. Pagan Pride Day will include
workshops about pagan beliefs and issues. All ages are welcome at
the event.
Central New Jersey Pagan Pride Day is affiliated with the Pagan Pride
Project, a global organization whose mission is to reduce
discrimination against Pagan religions by providing accurate
information, and by showing communities that their own neighbors and
co-workers practice these religions.
