Now mind you, I adore my son more than life itself but I am SO glad school started today. And he looked so handsome in the outfit he picked out (didn't have the heart to tell him the shirt and pants didn't go together). He decided on a nice semi-dress pair of black pants...with a football jersey and sneakers. He's just SO male..lol. But if it made him feel comfortable enough to be excited to go...he could have worn a potato sack for all I care.
So here I'll sit for the day...waiting for him to get home and tell me all about his teacher and his friends and what a great day he had! Ahhhh...life is GOOD !!

*starts singing "It's the most wonderful time of the year*

I too love my son more than anything...but I am SOOOOO HAPPY school started today as well. He drove me bonkers this past week. (the rest of the summer he was going to camp so he wasn't bored)

He told me last nite he wasn't going to wear his Metallica shirt but when he came out of his room, what was he wearing....his Metallica t-shirt and his long sleeved Steelers shirt underneath (it's chilly here today)

Now I'm waiting till around 3:10 to get my daily phone call and find out how the first day of 6th grade was. :D

Mine started yesterday. My 6 year old son was nervous about being there all day. After all it was his first day of first grade. :)
Luckily the school had an open house on friday so they could meet thier new teachers.
Now it's just me and my 4 year old boy. This house is so quiet, I'm actually starting to get bored. :yikes:
Now I get to help with homework for the next 9 months.
What are parents for? :)

I remember my first day of first grade like it was yesterday...(trust me, it was a LONG time ago). I didnt have to go to kindergarten...it wasn't required when I was little.
I had the same first grade teacher that my brother had had 6 years earlier and I remember my mom walking me to school (she did this EVERY 1st day of school until I was in Jr. High), and I walked into the classroom and there was this HUGE dollhouse. I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head! I was the first one there, and I didnt care who my teacher was, or where my desk was or anything...I just wanted to play with that dollhouse. I can still picture the classroom exactly. The alphabet letters around the top of the room...the tiny wooden desks and chairs .... my class opened into the cafeteria and the smell of the food was nauseating...lol..oh the joys of childhood!!

I don't exactly remember my first day of kindergarten, but I do remember going to first grade.
It was a little schoolhouse that had only 4 classrooms in it.
I had the walked in being the second kid in there. My teacher had legos! Like you AW I could only think of playing not who my teacher was. :)
I do remember her mostly for reading to me one day. She's main reason I was one of the smartest kids in school.

I hear you oh exhuasted parents of the summer!

I got my second grader (who looked so handsome in his camp shirt, JNCO jeans, and spiked hair!) and my kindergartner daughter on the bus today. As much as I love them and missed them, I really enjoyed going food shopping alone. A bunch of the employees were busting me about having a smile on my face and how they can always tell the first day of school, that is gets so quiet in the store!

Sooo, how long do you think it will take me to wish for a day off?! :D

James called earlier to tell me that he was home. I asked about homework and it's the standard first day stuff. Sign forms.

I asked him about his schedule and he's like "well, it's the same as last year, except I have Home and Careers too."

He was just so talkative. Hopefully later when I get home he'll tell me more.

LOL Chrissy1! I'm sooo the same way! I miss my now-1st grader (he started 8/25), but it's so nice when I can put the 2 y o down for a nap, like now, and be by myself. Ahhhh...

Plus, I just like having the chaos of Summer end! ROUTINE! GIVE ME ROUTINE! So much easier to deal with the kiddos when we have one!

I love teaching kids. Yesterday was my first day back at work with the kiddies. Wow! I teach special education. This year, most of my kids perform at about the first grade level and they are in the 4th and 5th grades. It was a big shock for me yesterday especially since I'm used to kids who perform at the 2nd/3rd grade levels. I'm really patient so I know that things will work well. Today was a million times better than the first day. :)

My baby started yesterday.............(i gotta learn to stop calling him my baby) this is his first year of full time and i got up extra early (only yesterday) and he got dressed and at 8am he's asking me when we were leaving (had another 40 mins to go) so i decided we have a ohoto shoot, i got the film developed before he'd even had lunch.

well today was a different stroy, hes decided that he doesn't like school because its too longer a day for him and he wouldn't go in the door..........ARGGHHHH anyhow with the teachers help i got him in without tears and tonight hes made it quite clear i will have the same battle tomoroow!

its hard forcing him to go, because he keeps asking me to keep him at home and not make him go.......heart strings being tugged a bit.

oh well im sure he'll get used to it, at least he's got the nest 12 years to come to terms with it all! :)

LOL Such a different experiece with Cait! *laughs*

But she is just half day and boy, was it weird having her alone for three hours.

"Can we play something fun?, can we play something fun? Can we play something fun?, can we play something fun? Can we play something fun?, can we play something fun?"

I forgot how much Scott kept her occupied!

LOL! Trey is loving school so far this year. He is successfully taking his lunch and eating most of it. Today he had an oreo wrapper in there and said his friend gave it to him. Yay..a friend!! :) His best buddy that he used to get into trouble with last year got held back. When he found out that he was in the same class they had last year he was a little jealous at first because he had a great teacher, but now he is ok because his new teacher is pretty!
