Singing songs like the Alphabet song or nursery rhymes are good, especially if you add lots of hand movements or sign language. It's amazing how they pick up on the hand movements at such a young age! :)
Reading books is fun.
Playing with water is fun! Either fill up the sink a bit and let her stand on a chair to play in it, or fill small bowls or cups and let her pour from cup to cup while sitting on a water proof surface.
Finger painting may be fun, but use a paint or substance that won't hurt if she decides to taste it...sometimes I used colored whip cream for my dd!
Hide n seek will probably become more fun as her walking skills improve!
Enjoy this age! It's a great one!

Ooh, go on nature walks! Babies this age are soooo into observing and listening to new stimuli. It's hard to do small activities with them because they still stick everything in their mouths (unless it's a specific activity FOR 12-24 mo olds), but things like walks (they're in a snugli, stroller or baby backpack) are ideal.
I used to take my older son to the park where there was a duckpond. He loved watching those ducks. We'd take food and feed them, and he loved that even better!
Hope this helps--enjoy this time, it goes soooo quickly!

i used to take my son to a soft play centre.......it had giant foam pieces and ball ponds and slides, he loved that.
also swimming, i loved being in the water with him and id spend quite a long time splashing about, even tho it was a public swimming pool i found it a really bonding experience for us! i got him inflatable arm chair that his legs went through and he kind of floated about kicking and splashing.
otherwise we'd mainly be found in the garden, playing with the grass or talking about the birds......good place to tell sotries aswell because they dont tend to get so distracted by the doll sitting next to you or the phone ringing etc

Well, I am all for fun learning activities because they are such cute lil sponges at that age. Leapfrog has some of the absolute best products on the market. They have a new leap pad that is designed for 6mo-2 years and it is a touch screen that teaches words and colors and such. We are getting one for Trinity and then the newer advanced one called the Quantum for Trey for Christmas. We figure it will be a great investment because then the new baby can inherit this one and Trinity can move up to Trey's current one and so on. I just can't brag enough about their products.
The hardest thing about this age is the constant drive to be mobile that they seem to have, so they can keep ya hopping that is for sure. This time next year I am going to be pulling my hair out!

Oh Semele, I LOVE Leapfrog! We have the Leapad for our 5 y o! He loves it! In fact, his 2 y o bro does too! It's saved us on many a trip, too!
Great suggestion!

Bailey LOVED fingerpainting at that age(she still does!) You can buy washable non toxic fingerpaints at the store. Messy but lots of fun!

We tried painting yesterday. She loved it, but unfortunately i did it near nap time and she got all grumpy. I now have lovely paint marks on my favourite jeans. We did used to go swimming on Sundays along with my partner but our pool got closed. It's being refurbished. I think its nearly finished now though. I have to admit though that i always get nervous when we take her though. I can't swim. I almost drowned when i was little while at a swimming lesson and I get real nervous when she is in hte pool. I have tried not to let it show though, cos I don't want her to be scared. Phill( my b/f )is teaching me to swim though. I learnt to float b4 they shut the pool down. :p
Can you get Leapfrog in England??

yup we have leapfrog leapads...... as far as i know there is two on the market in the uk the older one and the younger one.... my four year old has had the older one since christmas and loves it....... im pretty sure i got it from toys r us, but woolies has it, as does argos and index!! :)
i also like the v-tech toys because they help with the letters and numbers as well as being a fun toy with buttons and flashing lights!! and there are so many of them suitable for all the young ages.... these can be found in most of the children shops and expecially the above mentioned! :)
