Hi all, just wanted to share my happy news. I had a roomie living with me for a few months and she just moved out, leaving an empty room behind. Instead of making it into a play room for the kids, my husband-a christian, mind you- agreed to let me have the room. I now am in the process of turning it into an alter room. It is small, probably 10x10 feet give or take a few. It suits my needs perfectly though. My sweet hubby has even agreed to paint it for me! WOOHOO! Until this point I haven't had an "out in the open" alter because I knew it would make him uncomfortable. So, I think my karma is coming back in a good way and now I have a whole room to devote to my spiritual journey! Any good cleansing rituals out there? I'm open to decorating tips too. My hubby asked if he would be allowed in my room. I told him that of course he would be, but I don't think you'll like it! He just grinned.

Anyway, just wanted to share!

:thewave:

Bright Blessings!

Hey! That's not fair! I have to wait until one of my kids move out before I get my own room!!! Lucky!

I would've had to wait too, but my kids always sleep in the same room anyway, so we figured they would continue to do so whether they had separate rooms or not. They did before but they would always end up cuddled to each other. They are very sweet, 6 and 2 year old boys.

Thanks!

Awww! How cute! My kids HATE each other. Just ask them, they will tell you. They really miss each other when one is gone for more than a couple of days, but they will NEVER admit it especially to each other! They are 12 and 13.

Ceallach, congrats! I too have a 5 (almost 6) and a 2 year old set of boys. They also sleep together. I think it makes them very close. Course half the time they just yell at each other lol.

Ahh...my own room. Our spare bedroom is supposed to be "mine." But until I get the futon and my desk in there, it's just a mattress on the floor and craft (not Pagan but domestic, lol) storage. You are one lucky woman! :)

You're so lucky! I'm jealous!

I'd cleanse the room with sage, and burn a black candle to absorb any negativity :) That's what I did when I first moved out from my parents house. Worked like a charm, because until I did the cleansing, I had violent nightmares in that room, but after that, all was well :)

oh i'd love to have an altar room!!!! i've been dreaming of one. i'd have elemental altars in the quarters, celestial designs on the ceiling, a golden light globe for the sun and a white one for the moon, painted murals on the four walls corresponding to the four elements with maybe an image of a god or goddess here or there, a green or brown carpet, and bookshelves for my book collection everywhere. oh and an herb cabinet. and bunches of other stuff. i need an altar room!! good luck with yours. enjoy it.

We did something even better. We've disguised our alter room as the living room!!! We have guests and nobody is the wiser.

Eventually I'm going to get as clever as that...working on it in the formal living room actually. But it takes time, and I have the rest of the house to do first. It's a great idea tho--an altar right out in front of the world and everyone!
