I broke a tooth a while back and the dentist told me it would have to be pulled. So what did I do? Yep, I put it off. Last night more broke off and the nerves are exposed. I can't eat or sleep. I can't even lay down. I am just hoping I can get into the dentist today. I have taken probably 25 aspirin and lots of sore throat spray to try and keep from hitting the ceiling. :wah2:
An extra day off work would be nice, but not like this!

I had my front tooth break a couple years ago. I had to go almost a full day with my nerve dangling out. So yeah I know. It sucks way too much.

It is the air that makes it really painful. Cloves and clove oils help make it hurt less. Good luck. Owies.

well, I hope you get into the Dentist asap, exposed nerves are never a good thing.. and the socket <the place where the tooth was> may have pieces of the tooth remaining which can cause an infection.... Get Ye to thy Dentist :o

i can only imagine... but i thought i'd jump in and say, yes, clove oil does work wonders for mouth pain. don't know if it'd be strong enough for what you have though, sounds very very bad. :/

I've found swishing vodka on the nerve to be very helpful. Or maybe it just stops you thinking about it! Good luck, I know how bad it is, I'm into my dentist for alot of $$ right now!

OUCH.... i hope you feel better soon, but i can relate to the whole "putting it off" thing. I always put the dentist off. It happens to be one of very few phobias....

Don't take any more aspirin or you'll be in the hospital for a completely different reason..........

Ouch! I sympathize, I had a cracked molar once and that was bad enough - my bad temper became nearly legendary.

This sounds worse. I hope you can get to a dentist and get to feeling better soon.

You might want to try ibuprofen instead of aspirin. At least for me, sometimes it works better on stuff that aspirin isn't doing much for. But, like the aspirin, be careful not to over-do it.

Oh man--I'm with you on this one! I've got a few broken teeth, no insurance, no money to go and chloraseptic & advil have become my best friends!

If you have the opportunity to go--GO!!! Go I say!!!!!

In the meantime, soft foods and a couple of shots of tequilla are recommended, ok???

SMOOCH! :smooch:

I did get into the dentist today, but lo and behold the whole side of my face icluding sinuses, one eye, etc. is infected. So, now I take penicillan, try not to chew on the temporary, and wait a week and a half to get it pulled.
Thank you all for your concern. Just reading these replies makes me feel a little better.

Thank goodness you got in so quickly. I hope you are getting to a pain free zone fast. Lots of healing energy to you....in the meantime....

Please make absolutely sure they get all the infection out. You don't need the details of my situation but be assured it is critical. Infections in your jaw can linger and linger until...they cause permanent and reoccuring infections and damage to your jaw.

edited cause I am not able to spell.

Make sure that the soft food you're taking in includes yohgurt!!! Penicillin is great for clearing up infection in teeth and sinuses but it can cause thrush which isn't any fun either:sadeyes: I've had problems with my teeth as long as I can remember. :hugz: to you and I hope you'll be feeling better soon!

It is actually the main ingredient in novacaine - my oral surgeon admitted it! Just be very careful with it - it does not irritate the gums but is extremely abrasive to anything else, such as the skin. Apply it with a cotton swab and try not to touch your lips. If you do, it will be uncomfortable but shouldn't leave an actual burn.

It really works, it got me through a year of pain before I could afford to have an abscessed tooth taken care of - but also get to the dentist asap. And if you're really miserable you might also consider the ER.

Sending healing hugs and energy.
