In that I am ecclectic in my practice, I am curious to know some good methods of determining a Goddess and God to embody the two aspects of deity that I believe exist.

My study is predominantly Wiccan. I am incorporating quite a bit of shamanistic study into my magick as well. I use the classic tools in raising and directing energy. I'm not really sure of my exact ancestral heritage. and I'm not sure that I want to be that exact anyway.

What I am looking for are maybe all encompassing figures to use. I want to do a spirit journey to find the right ones to portray that which I focus on during ritual.I simply don't have the time right now to do this.

I talk to and call on the "feminine" and "masculine" aspects when I raise energy.

But I feel that they want a more definitive identification. They haven't made it clear as to what they want to be named, though.

Can you help me with this? Are there any "Buddha/Taoist" forms of the duel aspects that I could use? In other words, and I hate to use this term, "Generic" names I could use?

I have looked into many pantheons, but I haven't felt drawn to any in particular.

I will say that I am using a lot of the concepts put forth by Kerr Cuhulain in "Wiccan Warrior" and "Full Contact Magic". Maybe that can stir some ideas.

Thanks! Edrick Darkstaff

i wanted the same thing when i first started out, but later on i found out that an all encompassing deity is very hard to relate to in human terms (which is all we, as humans, are capable of understanding) and i can have a closer relationship with a unique deity and study the others of his/her pantheon to broaden my perspective. my patrons are Sekhmet and Horus, and i also have relationships with various other kemetic deities. the kemetic view is that all the different gods and goddesses are just names of the one, different aspects. so in studying the entire egyptian pantheon (or what i consider the most important parts of it, the entire thing is unimaginably vast), i'm studying as close to the entirity of deity as i can get. it's as close to all encompassing as i can come. but perhaps this approach is right for you... maybe just refer to them as lord and lady? i don't really know of any pagan gods and goddesses that are all encompassing, they really are all very unique. the closest you would come in the pantheon i'm familiar with is Isis and Osiris, who weren't originally all encompassing, but with the popularity of their worship, soon became viewed as such, or very close. i prefer to relate to them in their original forms, but the later ones may appeal more to you. good luck on finding what you're looking for.

mother earth and father sky maybe? that relates to the shamanistic element.
not names, but better than just god and goddess...
