View Full Version : I have plague

Heya,

I don't really know anyone here these days, and I wanted to write and talk to people but I didn't really know where to start... so "Just Talk" sounded like a good place.
I'm feeling all fuzzybrained and have transmutated into the Snot Monster due to a bad case of plague - bleurgh. Still, I've just got myself a copy of 'Winnie the Pooh and the Magicians' to curl up with alongside a mug of lemon, honey and ginger.
Just trying to decide the relative cleverness of going into work tomorrow, being as I'll show up and earn money, but at the same time give plague to everyone else and be bad at everything. Guess I'll find out in the morning - if my legs have turned to lead and my face resembles the grinch then I know that it's Chicken Soup and 'Richard & Judy' Day.

Ah well, I guess I just wanted to talk to someone and say arrrgh a bit ;)
Thanks for listening,

Tess

Well, one of my colleagues had the flu last week and refused to go home. Now he is on holiday and me and the rest of my colleagues have the flu. Next time he falls ill, I'm going to kick his behind back to bed.

Oh, and here's some healing energy, ((((Tess))))!

Well, speaking as someone who works in a small office where diseases are all too frequently shared...

Stay home! Nobody wants your nasty germs! :p

Besides, you're going to be miserable anyway, but misery is more comfortable at home in bed. :)

I think it's fair of you to say that my students would not be very pleased with me if I gave them all sinusy fun, so I stayed home. As you said, miserable I may be, but this way at least I'm warm-miserable accompanied by hot drinks and telly ;)

Well, not sure what plague actually means in London, but it doesn't sound fun. Get lots of rest and I hope you feel better soon. Also welcome aboard!

Awwwww..feel better soon hon.

I agree with staying home, and not sharing your cold. I used to work in an office environment, and colds used to spread like wildfire. Most businesses only clean their air filters once or twice a year max...so all those nasty germs get trapped, and recycled through the air systems. In some buisnesses, the absentee rate when a cold or flu starts circulating so rampantly, it can mean a lot of lost money.

As your a teacher, it would mean lost time for your students, and we wouldnt' want to hold back their edjumacation, now would we ?

Plus, you'll heal more quickly, if you stay home and rest :)

Wow, I'm still all new here and people are being all nice to me :) *warm squishy feeling*

I think the plague has decided to make this a holiday visit - tomorrow is day 3 and everyone keeps saying that it'll be the worst. I'm trying not to believe them cause how can it possibly get worse than the slimey cough beast I turned into today???

Still, there is a small perk... my boyfriend got all sweet and concerned... hot veggie soup, ribena with honey, he even went shopping and got me grapes *awwww*

oh and yay for Beechams. Evil they may be, but when you've got a severe case of ectoplasm there's nothing like a 'flu plus' capsule to make you feel human again :) Ghostbusters, ha! Who needs 'em when you have paracetamol?

Sorry, I think the plague may have done something fuzzy to the part of my brain which, you know, thinks... ;)

That's one of the things that can make being sick almost okay... a sweetie who will coo over you and soothe your fevered brow. :)

Actually, that was one of the clues that told me that my then-boyfriend (now-husband) just might be the one for me. He was soooo nice to me when I felt crappy and was taking it out on everyone around me (I'm NOT a good patient). And he saw me puking and still wanted to be around me. That MUST be love! :bigredblu

Hope you feel better soon.

Hehe, same thing happened to me last week! My fiancé came in as I was throwing up and held my hair. When I told him that he didn't have to do that, he was like 'It's ok, I can't see it anyway'. It was morning and he didn't have his contacts in! LOL :)
