Well, we finally got things going for our little Hockey nut! He will hopefully be starting on a little roller hockey league soon. It is dependant on how many other kids his age sign up, so keep your fingers crossed for some other crazy parents to let their kids play.
We got him some gear last night and new skates because his old ones were a little snug. We are starting him with roller hockey because he already knows how to skate and has just started on the ice. Plus it is waaaaaay cheaper, yet still too darned expensive! We do plan to keep taking him to the ice arena to practice so he can join an ice hockey team next year if he wants to. I thought I would start a thread for him because I know I will have a ton of pictures and stories to share. I took a few shots of him today. He looks so mean and innocent at the same time. Plus the missing tooth really makes him look like a hockey player!
Does that look like $200 worth of gear?

My 7 yo daughter is taking ice-hockey classes, and lovin' every minute of it!
At practice this week, she had the puck in her sights and was getting ready to whack it when a kid crashes into her...he said "sorry" and Savannah said "move, I'm trying to get my attitude here"...
Attitude is one thing she's not lacking!! Which is why she makes such a great player, imho.

Well, they called last night. Apparently there are enough kids signed up. He is supposed to go Sat night and try out sort of to see where they will put him. He is very excited and so are we. I have to work. :(

Hi Semele,
The kid looks great in his gear! He's got a great game face, too! My husband and I live in Phoenix, and we just can't wait to step inside 'the house that Gretzky built' in an outlying area of suburban Glendale. The 'Yotes even have newly designed jerseys and everything! I think its too bad that Teppo had to leave but on the bright side, we have Chris Chelios' cousin in the lineup this year as a Coyote-how cool is that? Chris Chelios [IMO the greatest defenseman of all time!] is my all-time favorite player and I have seen him play in the AWA in all his incarnations, as a Blackhawk and as a Winger...
What is Trey's favorite team and who is his favorite player?

Well, if he had to say something I am sure he would say the Tulsa Oilers was his favorite hockey team. He doesnt watch hockey very much. He just likes playing. :p
And, he had his very first roller hockey practice last night! It went pretty well, aside from it lookinglike a big mess out there on the rink, but they all seemed to have a lot of fun.

Yeah, little ones playing on the ice is always amusing to watch! Here in the AWA, in between periods, they get these little jr. jockey kiddies out there and sometimes they get a better response than the Yotes do!

LOL!! Yup, we may have to take out a second mortgage to afford this hockey habit along with our own hockey watching habits. Between the live games and the Center Ice pass for the cable we spend too much already.
They are going to start games soon, we are waiting to hear when exactly. We will definately have some fun stories I am sure!
