View Full Version : A ritual for my Daughter
Dragonmother

Little Dragonette isn't so little any more! She has begun her menses, in fact, and I am not happy about it- she seems too damn young, you know? I suppose, no matter what age a girl starts, her mother thinks it's too soon. Ah, well. In any case, I would like to add a ritual for her to our Midsummer celebration, welcoming her into Womanhood, and requesting The Lady's protection and guidance (and some of our males will have to swear fealty to her, I think) Anyone have any suggestions?
I just picked up a terrific book- "Rituals from The Crystal Well" by Ed Fitch. I like the rituals therein very much, and wonder if there is something along those lines that I could work from.

They get younger every year. My daughter is eight and in 2nd grade. I was in 4th when mine started so its most likely not long for her. I know its hard to see your baby growing up. They were just in diapers yesterday. *sigh* I sympathise with you. :)

Dragonmother, give dragonette a hug from us to welcome her to womanhood. That's wonderful that you're going to do something so special for her.

You might like to check out this Yahoo Club.
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/moontime
Most of the people there are very friendly, and moonwillow, the owner has a lot of rituals and things that might be able to help you.
There was a book recommended there just recently, called.... (looking)... "Blessings of the Blood". I checked out Amazon.com, they don't have it, and Barnes&Noble say to check out their retailers, they don't have it in stock, but you might be able to locate it somehow. There's always eBay! :)
Blessings of the Blood: A book of Menstrual Lore and Rituals for Women by Celu Amberston
I would definitely recommend checking out the Moontime club though, I am considering joining up again, it's been a while since I've posted there and I kind of miss it.
