I was wondering if anybody could give me information on hedge-witches?? All I have ever found are basic definitions. A hedgewitch is a non-wiccan witch, walker between two worlds, with a shamanistic path. I was wondering if anyone could give me a more broad view.

Ok, I'm not 100% sure if this is correct but this is my interpretation of a hedge witch based on bits & pieces that I've read or have been told. If I'm wrong, don't strike me with a lighting bolt, ok?

The term hedge witch originally refers to the wisewoman or healer of the village who usually lives at the fringe of the village. The hedge is usually used as a fence or border from civilization & the wilderness beyond. A hedgewitch sits between the mundane world & the magical world. Sometimes refer to as a green witch...working with herbs & herbal arts. Someone with a strong affinity to the Great Mother Goddess, Earth Mother. Someone who is close to the earth, working with the green element of the craft.

From what I have read, the term hedge witch is coined and popularized by English witch Rae Beth to describe the contrmporary yet traditional village witch or wise woman or man who practices alone without a coven.. The contemporary hedge witch is versed in the ways of nature, skilled herbalism, proficient in the casting of spells and observant of pagan seasonal festivals.

No, I am Feary Wiccan, but I just read something on hedge-witches and noticed that it fit me very well.

Off topic for this thread my friend. You will probably get a better response if you started a new thread or asked in another forum.

But, Don't let this stop you from your questions! It's just my job to keep the threads cohesive.;)

Peace,
