I'm pretty new to Wicca and have only been casting spells for about a month. My patron Goddess is Asherah; I feel a very, very strong affinity to her. She's a pretty responsive goddess, constantly opening up new paths or challenges for me. I also find that she inspires me with courage and creativity. Since her spheres of influence are sex and war, I find much in common with her in terms of passion and wrath. I also have found that she tends to have a sense of humor and can be lighthearted.

Also, the spells i've been casting get much stronger as I spend more time with her. When I first would take a tin of incense and ash and light it as an offering to her, it would only sputter small sparks afterwards. Lately, when I light the ash and incense, half of the tin will burst into flames about an inch high.

I'm trying to find others who have Asherah as their patron goddess to see if they have had similar experiences...

Hello

As you can tell by my nickname I too follow Asherah, although I do not consider myself to be wiccan.

Instead I see Asherah in her mother/protectress aspect and routinely call upon her to abide w/in my home and protect my family.

I do not do spells w/ her, I am more pagan then anything else so I cannot help you there.

The Asherah I know is a mother goddess not a warrior goddess, her daughter Anat(h) is the warrior/sex perpetual virgin goddess of the canaanite pantheon.

I hope I've helped and not confused.

The Asherah that I connect with sounds more like the warrior daughter goddess you speak of...I also feel strongly for Bast, though I think Asherah has more of a playfulness to her, which draws me to her more.

I was speaking with an experienced Wiccan today who told me that Asherah is very mysterious and is one of the Dieties hardest to contact. He said when he lit offerings to her, he got virtually no response, and that he had contacted many gods and goddesses.

I can't image Asherah being unresponsive...she definitely comes to me when I try to reach her, and our connection just seems to be getting stronger in the flames.

I cannot imagine Asherah being unresponsive either, but then again, she is typically considered a mother goddess, so perhaps that was the issue w/ your friend.

I think the reason Asherah is hard to connect with is because she is constantly confused with Astarte,Inanna and Ishtar.

You may want to google them as well, if for no other reason then to familiarize yourself with the other goddess from the Middle East.

I wish you well, and hope your relationship with Asherah continues to grow.

Hi There!
I am pleased to meet others who are devoted to Lady Asherah of the Sea. My patron goddess is Astarte, queen of heaven. I know that many of you will not agree with me, in my personal opinion, that Asherah and Astarte are two different names for the same goddess, but I would like to share my experiences. Astarte told me once when I channeled her, that she was known by many names in the ancient middle eastern world. She was called Ishtar in Babylon, Inanna in Sumeria, Asherah or Athirat in Canaan, and Astarte or Cybele in Phoenicia. Astarte was the patron goddess of the biblical queen Jezebel, a woman well-versed in the arts of sorcery and seduction. Because I feel a connection with Jezebel for some reason, I chose Astarte as my patron goddess. Astarte was the goddess that Queen Jezebel would have worshipped, as Astarte was a Phoenician goddess and Jezebel was a Phoenician princess. I do not know why, somebody would say that Asherah is dificult to contact, in my personal experience of invoking Asherah (whom I used to worship, before electing Astarte as my goddess) she is a very attentive divinity, and always assists people when prayed to with sincerity. A lot of wiccans and pagans, are inspired by the Egyptian, Celtic, Norse, or Classical pantheons, so it is a great pleasure to hear from people, who love the Canaanite goddess. I think that the Canaanite pantheon, has been made unpopular by Christianity, who inherited the Canaanite gods as their devil host. Blessed Be.
