Not just stones and crystals!

It can't be just me. While I use stones and crystals frequently, The things that draw me are woods, leathers, ( no offense intended to protectors of our animal friends), And particulary some hawk wings and claws from brothers who were killed by automobiles. My amulet is a leather Native American dream catcher. I couldn't imagine leaving home without it around my neck. For me stones do not have the affinity with my soul as the other things do. Anyone else?

While I do love stones myself, I'm also an avid collector of feathers. I've got all kinds (my favourite being a blue jay tailfeather that I found while out picking peas on the BF's family farm). When I make my dreamcatchers, I like to put feathers wherever I can (and wherever they look good).

I've actually made a few little dreamcatchers as necklaces, and they are really cute - plus they look great with a sweater.

Given the option I like to combine the two, and use gemstone chips or beads in the webbing of my dreamcatchers. At the moment I've only got blue howlite available to me, but when I have the chance, I'm going to order some strings of mixed beads online.

Why have one when you can have both?? :)

I too am also drawn to things besides crystals and stones...feathers, twigs (actually I'm drawn to alot of wood...started collecting the ones that speak to me and put them in a large vase...looks pretty cool actually), leaves, etc. I feel like other things (I hate calling them "things"!) have the same yet different spiritual and healing qualities as do gems. So you're not alone. :)

While I work primarily with crystals and candles, I am drawn to bodies of water. I get alot of energies when I can stand on a beach and just feel the ocean spray and hear the roar of the water. Also feathers that have fallen from the birds to the ground sometimes have a special feling for me. Also leaves that fall off of tress often have magick in them.

People have different affinities with things because we are all different, so if you are drawn to certain objects then don't worry. I personally use crystals. I have found recently that they are a good aide for me....As well as being pretty. I just changed. B4 i liked flame, fire and any images or things that reminded me of it.

ok I love crystals and stones, my parents house must have MY stones all over the place, it wasn't uncommon for us to go to the beach and my mum to take a carrier bag specificaly for me to bring homes stones i found! But i also have shells everywhere and other things i find, a few sticks, feathers, flowers, sand, i even brought home some snails when i was small :lol: No but the main thigs i have in abundance are stones and shells, shells just amaze me, even the dull ones that no ones seems to like! :)

hmm..I have an affinity for stones and crystals..sometimes they just call to me. But I occasionally get the "call" to pick up other things: nuts, twigs, leaves, feathers, kittens :)..it just seems right to have that something in my hand or pocket or on my altar for a while...

I'm finding a lot of feathers lately on my travels...even found a blue jay feather with one of my clients, she found one first then found a second and gave it to me.

when i mentioned the feather thing to my dad he dragged out this box of feathers. all of which he got from birds already deceased. he makes flies for flyfishing. he let me poke through his box, phesant, partridge, even turkey and owl (like i said, already deceased, he doesn't hunt birds for feathers)

river stones are usually what i am drawn to, more so than the store bought stones.

lol..maybe slightly off topic but in response to Hawk Shadowsoul, I frequently resort to using one of my cats' names for computer ids or passwords. zakzekezedd are my red tabby triplets..Zak, Zeke, and Zedd. They are pretty much inseperable, and usually when I address one, I address all three....and so far, there I haven't come across anyone else using that moniker.

i wouldn't be worried about offending animal lovers, either. i'm one, but i use leather, i'm not a vegetarian, and i also collect similar things (i have a jar full of dried baby frogs, they somehow hop into my basement and can't get out, i regularly go downstairs on froggy rescue missions, but there are always a few dead ones already.) like the wings you talked about.
i feel as long as you don't kill an animal specifically for these purposes, it's fine.
i as an animal lover get upset about things like mass production, breeding of ANY kind (nature know best) and people like victoria beckham who change their dogs according to their wardrobe.
