Hi! I want to know if is true what someone told me, about crystals... this person told me that if a use any specific crystal for a spell and charge it for that specific purpose, once the spell has work, I can re-use the same crystal for another spell, if I just buried it for 3 days in the ground, because the powers of the earth will neutralize the crystal again... Is that true? Or should I use a new crystal for every spell?

I'd be most interested to hear more about using crystals in spells.

That said, I use crystals for healing & energy work. I can't say I've ever "used up" a crystal. There are many ways to recharge & refresh a crystal. If, for some reason, you may not have time to be more elaborate, simply "shake" the crystal toward the Earth, as if you were shaking water off of it. Good temporary fix. You can place a crystal in sunlight, moonlight, or salt (some folks recommend sea salt; all salt, I believe, comes from deposits left by ancient seas, therefore all salt is technically "sea salt"). Burying them would be OK. Let me recommend using a plant pot (the kind with the drain hole in the bottom). Fill the pot with soil, bury your crystals in the pot, & place the pot on the ground (thereby making contact with the Earth). Less chance of forgetting where you buried them... ;)

I can't see but your using your crystals as tools; in some cases, you use a tool once, & dispose of it. Others you use over & over. If it's been a particularly "messy" or "ugly" working (removing really negative energy, for example), you might want to bury the crystal forever, instead of cleansing it.

Hi Samantha,

You seem to have things in good order :)

There are many ways to re-energise and cleanse a crystal, burying one in the ground for 3-7 days (the longer the better obviously) is one way.

You could also bury it in salt (like Rick says, many people use sea salt, but I haven't noticed a difference with using normal table/cooking salt) just make sure you throw the salt out or bury it after using it (don't use it again for different crystals). Likewise, washing them in salt water is very good too.

You can also leave your crystals out on a window ledge or even outside if it's safe in the light of the full moon. This is a wonderful re-energising thing for crystals. Leaving them out in the sunlight is wonderful too.

For a quick cleansing you can also hold your crystal under running water for 5-10mins while visualising white cleansing light entering your crystal. You can also do a smudging of crystals with incense. I would recommend sage, frankincense, myrrh or dragon's blood for cleansing.

If you have an amethyst cluster, you can also leave your crystal on that for a few days to cleanse it. I would then recommend burying the cluster in dirt or salt to cleanse it, though some say it's not necessary to do so on a regular basis. Once a month is good.

When it comes to spells, Clear Quartz is by far the easiest to program, most other crystals and gemstones have an energy to them which is specific to certain things (ie. amethyst for pain/healing, hematite for grounding etc.) Clear Quartz resonates with all chakras and energy fields, so it is easily programmable, kind of like having a blank slate.

Your friend is correct, you can reuse crystals for different purposes over and over, so long as you cleanse them of any residual energies that might be left over from their previous use. (This is ESPECIALLY important when you are using them in healings, and working on several different people).

One book, which you might like to get a hold of, if you can, is "Crystal Workbook" by Sheril Berkovitch. It lists many crystals in it along with the specific energies that they are attuned to. This helps in choosing which crystals (if you aren't using clear quartz) to use with spellwork and/or healing.

I would recommend using clear quartz if you don't know much about other crystals just yet.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding specific crystals, or anything else for that matter! I love talking crystals :) they are one of my specialities.
