Hello…

Anyone ever play 20 questions with a goddess?..it’s driving me crazy ..er

The last couple of years I’ve been dreaming and having “meditation flashes” of a particular goddess. I tried looking her up and I’ve asked her name. (She just smiles at me, one eyebrow arching.) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone recognizes her and could help me out with a name.

She has long salt and pepper colored hair…always in a simple braided down her back.

No jewelry…that I can see. She has very tan or light brown skin. Her skin is smooth (young looking) except for the “laugh lines” around gray eyes.

She often appears with a boline, black and gray wolf hounds, a small plain hunting bow, and a quiver of arrows hung from her belt.

Some times she flies a falcon or some kind of small bird of prey, but she says the birds not hers, it’s her brothers’. (Who I also met and have no idea who he is, but he's VERY "overlord of the manor" type, but that’s another post)

She says, she is not a mother type…I asked her...she laughed (I guess it’s good to make deities laugh…I hope.) :eyebro:

I most often see her cutting/preparing herbs in a garden, running the dogs in a large meadow bordered on one side by a dense forest, cooking in her kitchen, or (of all things) spear fishing.

So, I’m at a loss as to who she is…she “feels” like a goddess…and for some reason I thought she was Athene, but the “symbols” don’t match…

Thanks in advance for your help. :fpraiseyo

Well I'm not to sure on this. I would try searching through some Goddess of hunting. Some bits sound like Artemis and some don't. Maybe one of the other Goddesses like her.

like sylverstar said... sounds a little bit like artemis, who has a twin brother apollo. she has a pack of hunting dogs, and is usually depicted with a quiver of arrows and a bow, but i have no idea about the herbs, garden, and spear fishing. she was a bit of a nature goddess, so she might be found in a garden, and fishing goes with hunting... but i really don't know. she's the closest match i could find.

I agree with both the others too. Sounds a lot like her. There are some good links on this forum for sites with info.((((((()))))) Hope you can figure this out

When I first read your post, Artemis didnt' come to mind. However, I have to agree with the other members now after pondering your clues. Artemis is usually seen with her dogs and is a hunting goddess. At first, Artemis didn't come to mind at first since I don't see her as having salt and pepper hair. She usually appears as a young maiden.

Another hunting goddess who came to my mind was the Egyptian goddess of the hunt, Nit. But your clue stating that she isn't the mother type blew me off. After all, Nit is the great mother to many powerful Egyptian deities.

Have you ever thought maybe she's a Goddess without a culture? Perhaps she isn't an ancient Goddess, or perhaps she's a high level spirit guide? Maybe she's a new Goddess? Maybe she's a personal Goddess?

Just some ideas anyway. It's not the first time I've heard of someone having a deity that doesn't come from a specific culture or doesn't have some defined name.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help. I’ll look into the Artemis/ Nit angle.

Rain Gnosis…it had occurred to me…and personally, I’m hoping she is a guide rather than a goddess.

I would go with the fact that maybe she is a personal Goddess with attributes of other Goddesses. One that fits you uniquely.

To me she sounds like a combination of several goddesses. Perhaps, as others say, she is a personal guide or goddess. Maybe you could try giving her a name and she what she says.

To me, she sounds like Holda. Holda often appears to me with her dogs - she is very fond of hunting, and sometimes leads the Wild Hunt itself. She is also much concerned with traditional womens stuff, such as (groan) housework, cooking and spinning. So while she's very exciting to know, she also nags me about the washing up...

she “feels” like a goddess
So, she's not an ancestor?

To me, this is Diana. Even the eye color matches.

I was going to say Diana of the Wild Hunt ^_^ But I think the aspects of her are covered under Artemis, yes?

Angharad: Do you mean Holda as in the triple goddess with Holle?
Tyrrhenus: I don't think shes an ancestor...she seems to have to much "umphf"...ahh..kick..
Cobalt: Yes, Diana and Artemis are simmilar.

Thanks again, everyone for your suggestions. =)

I was thinking Holda as well ,some of what you said in your first post sounds like her.
Here are some links to articles about her:

The triple Goddess idea is a modern invention - Holda is as she is :)

At least your Goddess looks human. :wth:

Can I add my guessing game to the list? Since people seem to be agreeing over a short list of options, and I don't want to waste bandwidth or start a trend with a duplicate thread containing the same question as it applies to me... if this is hijacking or unappreciated, I'll copy/paste/edit it out to a new thread.

Anyway, here we go:

She's not just "pale" or "white", she's colorless. Like a page out of a brand new coloring book; just dark lines containing a bright colorlessness.
Her features are otherwise European/Caucasian; moderate cheekbones, small nose, etc.
She always seems to be in flowing robes (of the same non-color) that cover everything from the neck down except her hands and feet. She's always barefoot, and there's no jewelry on her hands.
Her hair is long, down to about the middle of her back, and is composed of the same non-color as the rest of her.
She's shorter than I am, maybe about 5'8" or so, based on seeing her next to me (much of my meditation involves seeing myself from a third-person perspective).
I get the impression that she carries some sword of sword, but I've never actually seen it. It's just very easy to put one in her hands.
She seems to be somewhere between maiden and mother, but just this side of maiden.
She's a very comforting, nurturing figure, but she's almost always looking at me like you'd look at your little brother when he just accidentally did something amusing but dumb.
She's never spoken. I get... large packets of information directly from her, and I have to parse them out myself to figure out what she's trying to get me to understand. It's just like what cats do when they're speaking the cat language. It's like a very advanced use of empathic communication. It would be amazingly quick, if I were at all fluent. She doesn't seem to mind waiting for me to figure it out, though... I suppose, if she did, she'd just speak or beam the thought into my head or something. She's certainly more patient than my cat is.
She's definitely a goddess, because she can do things in my personal meditative space that *I* can't even do, and I'm theoretically omnipotent there. She healed a malfunctioning heart chakra in moments that I'd been working on unsuccessfully for more than an hour. She led me to a place I didn't even know I had (it was an Aztec-style zuggeraut, in case that matters) in my own mindspace. She's jaw-droppingly powerful, in that subtle kind of way.

So, yeah, my reaction is always something along the lines of: :wtf:

Calzaer, just like for Aegis, I'd say that yours sounds more like a spirit guide than a specific goddess. Just because she has more control over your meditative environment than you do doesn't mean that she's a goddess - it makes sense that a guide would have more access than you.

My upper-realm spirit guide is another mysterious creature. Sometimes male, sometimes female, always in a black cloak and a hood. Never says anything, but mainly because instead of a face, it has an oval of quicksilver, almost like a liquid mirror. This quicksilver functions at times like a scrying mirror, showing me strange images, and sometimes like a TV set, broadcasting specific programming. It's amazing what a connection between our psyches and the collective unconscious can come up with.

Ben beat me to it. Don't discount the power of spirit guides.

look on ebay or epaganauctions.com and do a search for goddess knowlede cards....there are many cards in this deck, along with information of each Goddess, this may help you. Like some of the other have said, it may be a personal goddess, with attributes of many, but with the help of these cards, you may be able to see which Goddess(es) you are tapping into. I have found that these cards are great when trying to decide which deity to invoke in rituals, and helps you to get to know the aspects of a variety of Goddesses. You may also be able to find these cards at a metaphysical shop, but not all of them carry these. Ebay and epaganauctions, usually have these on there. I hope this helps. :) I f i can be of further assistance let me know and I'll be more than happy to assist you.
