I've just received my mail, and there was something quite interesting in it today.
I got a letter from the Institute of Noetic Sciences, or IONS. It's seems to be some sort of club that focuses on combining science and spirituality. I've never heard of it before, and although I'm curious, and a suspcious person as well. Just wanted to know if anyone else here has heard of this place or club before. Hey, someone here might even be a member.
I'd appreciate some more info. Thanks.

Never heard of 'em. What's a "Noetic Science"?

After a bit more research, it appears to be a second cousin of "Intelligent Design" theory. I tend not to mix science and spirituality, personally. . . :) I don't need science to speak to me of the interconnectedness of spirit, nor do I need spirituality or religion to speak to me of the scientifically-established interconnectedness of life on Earth and throughout the cosmos. The two may intertwine here and there, insofar as our spirituality may provide us with the impetus to learn more about the physical nature of our universe; but I'm wary of mixing the two. That way lies pseudo-scientific snake-oil salesmanship.

Actually, science can support spirituality as well. That's what some are working to do through comparing quantum physics to spirituality. I think it's fascinating to find where they meet and support eachother. Just as magic won't necessarily tell you if your test group of rats is going to die if injected with solution A, science might not help you get that job you interviewed for. Each of them can intertwine and each of them can show you different aspects of the universe from different views. Once upon a time science and magic *were* together.

That way lies pseudo-scientific snake-oil salesmanship.

True, it can happen.

Yes, I've heard of Noetic Science, but danged if I can remember where, when, or what. Yeah, that was a fat lot of help, eh? Sorry.

It's ok if you haven't heard of the place or can't remember. I was just curious about because I had never heard of it either. I'll find out more in time.
