A few weeks ago, I did my first real circle. It wasn't a "classic" one, with the pointing of the elements and all that, but it was something a dear mentor suggested, and it took a lot of work to set up, then take down. I even had to cut a little hole (door ;) ) to get the matches. . .

So how many of you have been knocked off guard? Thinking you understood things, only to find yourself at the beginning once more?

(of course, all that I say should be taken with a grain of salt, as I am only eighteen years old. I am beginning to realize that I have that superiority complex and feeling of invincibility that all teenagers get. . . and boy is it embarrassing!)

Only all the frickin' time. Right now I'm going back to basics too to try to sharpen some of the basic skills like meditation, visualization, psychism, etc.

Go back to the beginning and start all over? Heck no. I just keep learning new stuff and adding new ideas. Some things change and some things don't. Even if I were to change paths at this time, I'd build on the things they had in common as well as learning more about the differences.

I just did that "circle" thing again. . . boy, it was harder. But then again, it felt a lot more substantial this time. For me, it was like this calm small place I was in, apart from the rush and loudness of the energy of the world. . . but a part of it, too. It was. . . really wonderful.

And I did my first spell-type thingie. It was a spontanious action, really. Gathered up stuff in my room in twenty minutes, wrote the words as I went along. . . but they had such meaning to me, and the energy I felt with all of it. . . it amazes me. I've never really been the type to do "spells" and such. . . yet. . . I kind of just did.

What the heck, did I suddenly go fluffbunny on myself?! When did I get thrown back?

Oh well. I like this. :floating: It's like. . . starting over, with a few "don't do"s to help me along. (don't do's are about all I learned before! *whine*)

I still have beliefs I did before. But as far as "metaphysical" stuff goes. . . "magic" and all that. . . wow. Restart! But I think this is the right approach, this time.

I'm sorry if this is all blabbery to you, but it's interesting to me.

. . . LMAO and my roommate's cat, Marius, just went and sprawled where I'd made the circle (and taken it down). . . my cat is there, too. They just love energy. They're both sprawled on their backs/sides, chins up, completely relaxed. I suppose I win the kitty seal of approval? :D

always changing but adding and changing in a good way ... i think..... :) it's in every aspect of my life (currently in my 4th university program ! ) ahhh.... I am almost done though. I am just like that i guess. I fall in love with new things and new ideas every day. I am a hopeless romantic for information :)

OH my goodness I am one of those people who just when I think I have found all the answers, BOOM!! It keeps me on my toes and makes me a better witch in the long run. Sometimes I think I can hear HER saying...."Oh no my daughter, time to regroup and begin at the beginning....try again..."

Hmmmm...I would say i'm firm in my foundations......however, I keep adding, and adapting as needed. For me, since i've chosen a specific path, but NOT a specific trad, I had to learn the basics pretty much on my own, with some help from friends and mentors of specific trads, AND what I learned through reading constantly. In time, I just kind of developed what worked best for me, by combining aspects of all these different elements. I'm firm in the knowledge that it works for me. Anything else, when I've tried it, simply hasn't. However, that's the basic stuff. The rest of it, is another story. Learning history, for one thing, spell work, matters of meditation, and psychism (tarot reading, etc) continues to expand and grow, and I keep learning new stuff all the time, and yes, there have been quite a few times when I thought I knew something, only to come to an entirely new realization about it. In a few years time, if what I believe to be my firm foundation changes, then I think i'll be able to deal with it just fine. Because I've always had the attitude of "Well..it works for me, Unless I come into contact with something that works BETTER, I'll keep it. But..i'm always open" ;)

Another thing which continues to change, is ethics for me. I am still CONSTANTLY growing in that way, and my opinions are constantly evolving. One day, I might believe something VERY strongly, and then the next day, i'll encounter a situation which makes me rethink it. In that way, I'll always be a newbie. I think all of us encounter things which make us rethink our principles, all of the time. The key is to recognize it when it happens, and examine it closely.

That is exactly how it is for me......Thank you for saying it so well.
