We got news tonite:

It doesn't look good. They believe he has some sort of infection running through his system and they haven't been able to take him off of the ventilator since this all started again. They are also going to be giving him some medication that my aunt says is basically a last resort type of thing to see if they can clear anything up.

No news as of now. Just that my poor aunt is completely fried mentally. She's been taking care of the older one and the household and working full-time and just needs a break.

They are all on the breaking point up there now and there is just nothing we can do about it. :(

From what I understand, my aunt went away this weekend for a much needed break. I should be getting an update tomorrow (Monday) so I'll let y'all know as soon as I hear anything. :)

We got news tonite:

The baby is back in his own room and is doing better!

The most I know is that they still don't know what has/is causing the bleeding and that he has an infection still, but he is out of ICU and hanging tough. This is not to say he's totally out of the woods but this is a big step. :)

A downside though.....it looks like for the rest of his life whenever he has a cold or a slight infection of any kind, he will need to be hospitalized because he has almost no immune system now.

But for now, he's hanging in there and I can't thank you guys enough for everything you've done for this little one. :hugz:

I'm so sorry to here about the baby, I'm a little behind I know(I'm new). I keep crying because I have a little brother, very little, about the same age as the baby... we're 16 years apart age wise... and I can't believe how strong you are. My bro had a couple small medical problems, but I couldn't imagine going through this... I'll send all the energy that I can for him.

I just found this thread, and when I noticed the earlier posting dates tears filled my eyes for fear that I would be too late to send {{{{{{{{{{{{{{ENERGY/LOVE/HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to this precious little one and all of your family.

My youngest daughter lost two sons, both premature, and the grief flooded back as I shared all these past months of what you've been going through compressed into the few minutes it took to read. Whew.

Please -- what is his name? He (and you all) are in my heart and prayers.

(And special love to "your little guy"-- the older child can so easily feel pushed aside during a crisis like this...)

I know and love many like him who are what we call frequent flyers! They come in often enough that we get to see them grow up. While it is tough for them to have to spend so much time there, they are at least helathy and happy the majority of time. Plus let me be the first to assure you that they get incredibly spoiled by the nurses!

Glad to hear he is hangin tough and I would love to meet this fella, for he must be special indeed! His purpose in this world will be a great one. It has already been miraculous! Energy flowing.

Yep! The baby is scheduled to come home sometime next week--I still can't believe it.

I'm trying to be excited, but everytime they say that he can come home he suffers a setback. I guess I won't believe it until he's actually there.

No I probably won't be going up again for quite some time. However, my mother is planning on visiting at the end of the month for her birthday so that will be great for her!

Of course, my heart goes out to you, your cousin, the baby, and everyone in contact with you. I was born severely prematurely, weighing only 4 ounces more than the baby of which you speak. I was a very lucky baby and I'm glad to live now as I am. I hope this child is as lucky as I was and can live. Hopefully the same thing will happen to this child as happened to me. I bounced back and by the time I was a year old, I looked like a bowling ball.

I just got an e-mail from Wtchy with a message that she wants me to share with everybody.


For my friends at MW:

We found out tonite that the baby came home on Wednesday!!! He's still hooked up to the feeding tube and needs his meds every few hours...and they do have a nurse that will come in a few times a week...but he's finally home!!!!!!

His big brother is just all kinds of excited to have the baby in the house and goes in to check on him all the time. :)

I just wanted to let everyone know and to say a big thank you from my family for all of the thoughts and prayers that have been sent his way. I know that a big part of why he got through this was because of those here who have been keeping up on his progress and sending him energy. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and I love and miss you all.
