Hey everyone . . .

I was just thinking today about my weird gift of precognition. I smell things. I had met my husband about three years before we started dating. We hadn't seen each other in years, and one day I was driving along and the scent of him just filled my entire head. I looked him up, and six months later we were married. I will smell that wonderful baby scent in my office, and within a week someone will announce that they are pregnant.

I have been getting a strange smell lately, and it is making me wonder about a diety ( I posted a question about that in the God/Goddess forum). I was just wondering if I am a nutcase. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is there a word for what happens to me?

Thanks,
Kat

You are definitely not a nut-case. I promise. There are many, many facets of divination and you have a rare gift indeed. Please allow me to share with you some instances with you that I have experienced.

Oftentimes, I, too, have smelled scents, but not as in-tunely as you have. For instance, about a month ago, I was taking care of menagerie of houseplants when all of a sudden I smelled a scent - a body scent. Kind of like my dad, but it wasn't my dad. It didn't have the same energy. Then I started to cry uncontrollably, and knew it was my "pappaw," who I was very close to (he died when I was 7). That was the very first time I had ever smelled him and that was very odd, but kind of like a breakthrough for me at the same time.

There have been other times when I've been sitting outside talking with friends and then get a smell of soot/ashes. Sometimes in meditation, I will get scents similar or that of perfumes or something really odd that I cannot explain actually. (I have gotten away from using incense in meditations because of my allergies and such, so the scent can't be from that; and the candles I use are unscented.)

So I think it's wonderful that you have such a gift. I think you should explore it more and research it further. I'm sure there is a term for it somewhere. Please let us know what you discover! I find your intuitive self, fascinating!

Blessed be,

Hm, interesting way to sense omens! Makes me wonder too - sometimes I find my sense of smell picks up odd things, I never thought to consider there might be some sort of significance to that.

The closest I've ever come to this is being able to smell when it's going to rain or snow. I'll step outside and say...It's going to rain today...and people look at me like I'm nuts because it's 70's and not a cloud in the sky. But I'm right....

I do the exact same thing also, Angel. I can just smell the weather in the air sometimes.
I've really never thought about the smells and applied them to the art of divination though. I'll have to be more observant. Here's something that i have noticed. When good news is in the air, the air has a sweet fragrant smell- kind of like flowers. That's all I have noticed.

I can smell the water in the air as well. That's neat we all have that gift. I love it that we all have so much in common here.

The divination of water runs in my family. My Dad can divine for water. He can use either a "Y" shaped stick or two rods, each shaped like and "L". When the stick bends downward, or the rods would cross inward, he would be standing over water, and he can even tell you approximately how deep the water is. My pappaw (the one I spoke of in the earlier post) was like that, too.

My dad and I are very sensitive to barometric pressure and feel it in our bones as to when it will snow and how bad a storm will be.

Gosh I love this community!! You guys are great!

Blessed be . . .

That's great that you smelled your grandfather, KyGreen. My mother used to wear this perfume, I am ashamed that I can't remember the name of it right now, but it smelled like lilacs. So I love getting a whiff of lilac in the middle of the winter . . .

I would like to get better in tune with this, I smell things that I can't place and it worries me . . .especially if it is a medicinal or chemically scent (I think I just made up a word!)

My latest puzzle is that I keep smelling a farm. Sometimes it is a yucky fertilizer smell (and yes, I check the bottoms of my shoes :hehehehe: ), and sometimes it is that sweet hay smell. It's very cool, because I usually can't smell these things without sneezing my head off.

I love this place, too. It is so cold in Ohio tonight (40 degrees, my kind of weather), and then I came to visit MW and it is all beautiful and brown. Fall is here! Yay!

I agree, I love the brown colors here, and the banner rocks! And about the smells you have been smelling . . . perhaps there is an animal spirit of sorts - a farm animal perhaps - that is coming through right now for you. Maybe, just maybe. Only you would know, of course. Just a thought.

Keep at it, and maybe you will get an answer of some sort - a vision, a dream, something. Devine away, m'friend!

Blessed be . . . in Love and Light,
