Hi everyone. I was just wondering if there was anyone else here that may be foster parenting children right now, or have in the recent past.
I live in ontario and my husband and I are going to start looking into foster parenting. Any information or anything you can give would be great!

I have 5 foster daughters. They're all grown now, some with babies of their own. One big warning- you will fall in love with everyone of them! Some may give you trouble, more than you can imagine, but you will still love them. The most heartbreaking thing is if you have to turn them over to someone else. Good luck, what you are doing is one of the most heroic things a person can do!

Thanx, I really agree with that. We have a lot of love in us (hubby and I), and not having children of our own we have no little ones to share it with. We would like to at least touch a child's life in a small tiny way if they're going through a really bad time. I'm making my call to CAS tomorrow.
I plan on going part time with my job, if not quiting all together. Hubby is gone for work ten days in a row then home for four. We haven't had any luck getting pregnant, and we have extra rooms here, as well as extra love. I really hope we get accepted. Any blessings would be greatly appreciated... as well if it does happen you may get some pm's... lol, hope that's okay!

Foster parenting and adoption can be wonderful and has many rewards, but there are some pitfalls that you should be aware of and many things to consider. I've posted them in this thread:

Thanx Freja, I really appreciate hearing the 'other side' of it all. I have been painted the pretty picture as well, but I'm glad someone has mentioned the other half because I hadn't been able to find any info on that part of it.
I know that there are a lot of hard done by kids out there and that not everything is always peachy. Thanx for the post, I have read the link u gave me... its time to do somemore information searching on the internet!

Yes - state agencies, especially, are so desperate for homes that they will never tell you the other side because they are afraid to scare people off, but it's so unfair to the prospective parents and to the children. It's a wonderful thing to do and I hope that you will pursue it. Just educate yourself as much as you possibly can.
