What does DH, DS, DD etc, stand for? I get the husband, son, daughter part, but what does the "D" mean? And what about the other abreviations for relationships? I can't think of them now, but I know they're out there, I've seen 'em. :)

I can't think of them now, but I know they're out there, I've seen 'em. :)I've always believed them to mean, "Dear Husband," "Dear Son," and "Dear Daughter," respectively. The only others I've seen are, DW (Dear Wife), SO (Significant Other), BF (Boyfriend), and GF (Girlfriend).

Or on some of my "mom" boards.. it could stand for darn or the alternative, depending on mood. :T

I suppose it depends upon the tone of the posts in question...

Well then, I've been using them correctly :) However, I still don't understand why people can't/don't just say son or daughter....I don't think I'd ever refer to my husband on a regular basis as my "dear husband" (unless he's done something really nice).... too sugary for me. ;)

It's just shorthand...

Well, yeah, I realize that :) Why not just say S or D or H then? I just don't get the "dear" part, is all. Just my being nit-picky :)
