Hi Everyone!
I just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone uses along with the Tarot to do a reading.
Me? It's strictly Tarot. I haven't been able to get "into" other methods.....but I'm working on it. :D

Well, since I haven't left to go read my book yet I guess I can answer this!!! 8O :elf: 8O
I am not sure what to call it but I get "feelings" about stuff. I guess intuition??? Anyway I don't really consider that a divination per say becasue I don't control it...yet. I am working through meditation training to learn to better control it.
I am very interested in learning to use a scrying mirror. May have to make me one. Rick posted a thread how to in his forum!!! Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Guess I really didn't answer your question after all did I?? Just stalling ya know!!
I do get vibes from others. I am an empath so I feel a lot of the same emotions of my close friends and family. Sometimes I get it from strangers which is wierd. The only reason I can think of for the lack of consistancy is that some people just put off way more energy than others. I can remember sitting in a restauraunt a long time ago and I was watching this couple and a teenage girl. The girl was a typical teen...slouching and frowning but I could feel everything she was thinking. Mol was like, "what are you staring at?? Are you listening to me?" I told him what I was feeling and he said I was nuts. I got that this girl was with her father and his girlfriend or maybe even new wife. The girl hated this lady. But the really wierd thing was that I could feel the emotions like they were my own and felt I could better enterpret them than she could. I knew it wasn't the girlfriend the girl hated but the idea and situation. Anyway the dad went to the bathroom and the conversation dropped. The lady was trying hard to get through to the little girl...she was saying.."so your dad tells me..." I was like kicking Mol going I told you!!!
Blah Blah...anyway thats my story for the day...now I really have to start reading!!

Semele,
I, too, am an empath. Sometimes it is soooo hard, ya know?! Do you have any type of shield ritual or protection type of thing to help you guard against some of it. Sometimes for me, especially with my loved ones, it just gets too be too much, and I get totally overwhelmed.
In answer to Dagda's question, I mostly stick to tarot, but I'm starting to do a bit more with my pendulum. I also really want to get into crystal ball gazing, but I'll have to wait for $$ before I can get one.

Emerald,
I too want to get into Crystal Ball gazing, but don't have the $$. (I'm waiting to win the lottery! ;) )
I am starting to work more with my pendulum. ....and I am working with Tarot and my dreams. I don't keep a dream journal as yet....though I used to. I just try to remember the main theme of the dream....and from that, the impressions I get are great! I had a great searching/waiting dream the other night.....though it was a bit confusing. ;)
I would also like to get into Magic Mirror scrying, the I-Ching, and Runes. I have a set of runes.....and I plan on starting the study of them in the next couple of months.

Good luck with your runes Dagda :D
Ive been learning them the last couple of months and find they really do help and back up my tarot readings. They are a bit tricky to learn because theres no picutres just symbols, but once you find your own method Im sure youll get into them :) I really like mine because I made them myself but Tarot still is my absolute passion!
Ive never done mirror scrying or I-ching but Ive gazed a few times now with my friends Crystal ball (which is glass and allot cheaper to buy ;)) ~ Mostly just after a Full Moon ritual but we are planning to do a ritual just for the ball soon ~ With my first attempt I didnt see anything but my second was very powerfull.. and I have seen images twice since also on different occasions with his. And a few times with a Pink Saturn Spa ball I have.
I also love gazing into candles and ritual fires ~ with special incense burning ~ and seeing what i can see and what images come up with the flames.
But Ive still got alot to learn and still dont really understand gazing/scrying all that much!
Emerald in answer to your questions about shielding yourself ~ Whenever it gets too much for me too I imagine a cacoon or kind of sleeping bag of light around me ~ like a circle ~ and whenever it gets hard for you ~ just zip it up all around you ..then when your on your own and you want to take it down ~ just zip it off again. It works for me when I feel really sensitive or when people are drawing/draining me or when I feel nervous and fagile.

My Beliefs in Divination is based on the my Beliefs in the Abilities of the Great Seer Nostradamus and his Great Quatrains of Predictions.
I have an A&E Biography on Nostradamus on Video Tape, and he had been able to make some Startling Accurate Predictions that have Come True.
In the Video, he mainly uses the Divinatory Art of Scrying to make his Predictions. Tarot was still relatively New, so he either had no knowledge of them or not enough experience with them to use them.
There is a part of the Program where a Female Scholar states that things are Changeable and that if all of Mankind takes heed of Nostradamus's Predictions and Warnings, that we all can Change Things in order to avoid what is coming and avoid the Catastrophes that are to come.
But in the 500 years since Nostradamus made his Predictions, Mankind has time and again Ignored his Predictions that has time and again caused his Predictions to come true.
So in the Lesson, it states that there are either Time Lines and are Changeable, but the course states that Future Events are going to happen as they are already Written in the Pages of the Future and Not Changeable.
Since Nostradamus's Predictions have always come True, then I am tending to agree with the Opinion that the Future is Set and will unfold as Nostradamus Predicted.
But there is the fact that I do not do Afterlife Tarot Readings for anyone who is Still Alive, as the Energies of their Present Life has not finished Impacting Upon Them, so the Path taking them to their Next Life is not finished being Created yet. So in that sense, I see that the Future is Moldable and Changeable.
Maybe is the Main Problem is that Mankind just does not have the Wisdom necessary to make the Changes necessary to avoid what Nostradamus had Predicted.
As far as the Methods of Tarot Divination, of those who ask their Kyakusama for why then have come for, and those tell their Clients whay they have come, I do the following.
If a Kyakusama comes asking for a Particular Subject to get a Reading for, then I choose the Best Possible Spread for them to use.
But when a Kyakusama comes, but does not have a Specific Question, then I mainly use the Celtic Cross Spread, or the 3 Card Past, Present, and Future Draws.

wow - a post from the dark ages. :)
As for me, I do Ogham, Fire Scrying, and I try to do Pendulums (with mixed results - not sure we mesh quite right...)

I pretty much stick to Tarot, myself. But one of our group-members is amazing with runes, so we do combined Tarot/rune readings and interpret them together. I'm always amazed by how much extra depth we get by juxtaposing the two forms.

I sometimes cast runes along with tarot, and have even done readings with a runestone drawn for each tarot card position. Usually the two methods work well together.

I don't use anything with my tarot, but I use my perdulum all the time- easier when you are out and about, you know? and recently I have been doing psychic readings without any props- it is really exciting!
