Merry Meet all! I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so I stuck it here.
Welll, just this afternoon (on a full moon day, yay!) me and my best friend were sat under a tree in the park just after school. I particuarly like this tree, I don't know why. I just feel good when I'm sat under it. Anyway, me and my friend stood up, about to go, and at exactly the same time we spotted a little object on the grass. My friend picked it up, but since she isn't very curious about objects on the ground she handed it over. I put the object in my pocket and went home.
When I got home I rinsed it under the tap and examined it closer. It is a metal butterfly, about one inch across, with one of those hoops at the top for threading a necklace chain through. It also has small coloured (probably just plastic) gems on it at various points. I looked all over it but couldn't find a single hallmark, 'made in China', or etched letter of any kind. I also noticed it gave off very strong vibrations.
My questions, anyway. (I always like my threads to have a proper point to them, or I feel they're, well, pointless)
Is there any way I can tell wether it's bronze or copper? The only way I know is checking for green rust, but there's none of that.
I'm wondering if finding this has a deeper meaning to it. Recently, my family has been trying to purchase the house of our dreams (it's an uphill struggle though). In my workings I have been using a butterfly as the symbol, since I figured moving will be a big change.
Can you tell me any tidbits of info about objects found in places that are particuarly liked?
Lastly, is it a good idea to wear it on a necklace straightaway or should I leave it on my altar to soak up some of my energies for a few days?
Thanks in advance if you can tell me any info.

Check the color of the metal - bronze is sort of yellowish, copper is reddish. I'd put it in some salt or leave it out in the moonlight tonight to cleanse it before wearing it.

Yellowish, reddish. hmm. It's certainly more yellowish, but it is quite tarnished.
I decided, I'll sit with it in the moonlight when I finally pull myself away from the computer, and cleanse it as best I can. I think i'ts too much of a 'coincidence' (yeah, that word is rubbish) to find a peice of buttefly jewelery on the full moon, under one of my favourite trees, right next to my favourite sitting spot, at a critical time in the whole house-buying fiasco, and that it seems to affect my general psychic feelings so much.

I think you're right: it's too much of a "coincidence"! It sounds like it was placed there for you to find. When we were trying to decide wether to move here or not, we were out riding around, checking the place out and Hawk spied a full-spread Hawk wing in the ditch! We made our decision based on that find and are truly happy we did! Although...it did take over a year to find the right work and place to live! Cleanse it.. I use sea salt and water and put it in the full moon overnight. And by all means wear it, if you know how, charge it with dream come true magick.
