I am just wondering why you don't post. Is it that you are not yet comfortable here? Are we too unusual for you? Do you have nothing to say? We really would like to hear from more of you. Please join in I think you will be pleasently surprised by the results.

:D I think it's funny that people are lurking in the Lurking Poll!! :p

There are fewer lurkers than you might think... most of them are just guests and not members. I have rarely visited the boards and noticed names (members are listed on the front page) who do not regularly post, IME...

However, and Yvonne and I have discussed this a lot, sometimes you'll come here, and there'll be 20 people logged in ~ and no one is posting anything! BAH!

I hardly ever know what to say to things, and don't post unless I do. Don't wanna go posting a rant that no one understands except me ^_^

I yack my head off. I don't care if anyone reads what I write or not. And if someone doesn't understand, well, he should ask questions. That's how we learn things. :D

Please don't take offense but...
I lurked for awhile although I am a regular poster on a couple other boards. When I finally did post here, I received a lot of negative energy. Everything I post, of course, is my own view and opinion, as it is with everyone, but somehow people got very defensive and upset... I thought that was what these boards were for, to throw ideas around, debate, discuss (of course it's NOT okay to make a personal attack!). Now I feel that I have to pussy-foot around because people are overly sensitive here. How is anything of real substance to be discussed if you are made to feel as if there is a majority opinion, and you are troublemaking by simply not agreeing? Folks, be secure in your own ideas and opinions- what should you care if I agree or not, your life is up to you. I feel as if I have to be falsely "warm and fuzzy" at all times or I am not welcome. I thought I'd come out for this post again- because hey, you asked but I think I'll go back to lurking again. I'm willing to give you all the benifit of the doubt, I know that many of you really care about this place so my experience must be unique and not the one that you all have had. Perhaps I'll come out and play again in a while...
Until then- all best wishes and blessings!:)

Hey Spirahl, you sound like someone fun to have around posting, so I hope someday you'll feel the urge.
I like good old intellectual sparring, and why shouldn't I? I'm a libra. So, rack up those reasons, justify that viewpoint, cuddle up to a conclusion, preface that point and pound out a premise. See ya round, lurkers!

It seems that, like in life, you will meet people who take things a little too personally. It happens.

What I hope is that people will learn to take posts from the perspective of the writer and use the info they can and discard the rest.

I hate to see that people are not posting because they are afraid of hurting someones feelings. Sometimes...you have to hurt someone a little...to be a friend. We dont always want to hear someone disagreeing with us...but thinking about the disagreement just makes us stronger.

...sometimes you feel like a lurk,, sometimes you don't.....
Some of the boards are intense, and can make one a little fearful of participating. So,, go to a few of the more "placid" boards, make some friends, get some confidence & "expand".
I always feel like lurking less when I remember my safety goggles & bandaids.

just spent some quality time lurking, eyes now burning from too much time staring at the monitor. The question for me is often, what do I say? In the mundane part of my life there are not many opportunities to express my pagan views. I guess it will get easier as I go along. Thanks for the forum.

I felt the exact same way when I first posted, and will probably feel the same way the last time I post ... but when I wandered off due to time constraints, I missed being able to speak freely! ;) No matter how rarely. (Rarely compared to a lot of the people here, anyway!) So no matter how often or rarely you post, -do- post, because you get something out of it!

Sorta like a Mounds or Almond Joy thing. I post a lot, but there are times when I feel that I should not, when all that is said is good or that someone else has already responded and I would just be putting in an ATTABOY. I know folks need pats on the back (I DO) but there are times when it seems out of place.

I have also been out of town, Sherry and I are preparing to move near DIMMITT, TX. Our house will be just outside of Easter, TX (Easter is one of those places that consists of a grain elevator and maybe a couple of houses.)

I lurk because I'm not Pagan -- I'm Buddhist with Pagan leanings and in the midst of a time of personal spiritual re-evaluation to boot. Thus I find I read in here more to learn and to find new stuff to think over quietly to myself than to discuss openly.

Besides, you all are far more conversant in this stuff (Wiccan and Pagan topics) than I am -- and I find I learn more with ears open and mouth closed than the other way around.

I voted for "I have nothing to say". :) I lurk a lot more than I ever take the time to post. :p I like being able to keep to myself and have the freedom to observe others without actually participating. That's why I very rarely ever go into chat rooms. It's a little harder to remain unnoticed in a chat forum, unless it has a lurker mode. :) Large crowds of people make me antsy. :) I also try to go by the old rule "If you don't anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all." I'm not always as nice as I may appear. I've just learned to bite my tongue a lot. :p <- See! It's red.

Sometimes I don't have anything to say - I've posted a few times. I get really busy with work in the spring and I didn't even have time to log on. I get alot out of many of the posts, though, and I think you guys are great! Plus I'm not that technically savvy and I have a hard time putting in all the fun smily faces. I tried but couldn't get the avatar I wanted because it wasn't the right size or file type or something... I'll try to say hello more often.

Good idea for a poll!!
I put down that i dont have anythin to say, which isnt strictly true (I suppose I should've put I'm too shy!) I just dont post as much as I'd like to cuz I feel that.....hmmm, I dunno, I just feel that at my age (14) I should be learning more than giving out advice. Does that make sense? I just feel that I don't know enough to contribute yet....Does anyone else feel this way or not?!?! Am I a loner in my feelings?
Love y'all

Wow check out this thread necromancy...someone must have voted on the old poll eh? So yeah why the lurking..for me lately it is because most of what I would say will come out cynical because I feel that way and I used to be one of the biggest haters of cynical people as such a little mary sunshine type myself. Now How is that for an ironic statement..I guess I didn't hate it so much as dislike it and always come along and say.."stop being so negative" so therefor until I can stop being so damn negative all the time I lurk and only post when I have something positive to say or when I just can't stop myself.

Hmm...well when I log on, i usually start posting straight away. I find that there's always something to post about, but there are periods where I feel like just reading posts. i'm not going to speak for the 'lurkers' but I guess that's what they want to do, just read. There's a lot of information on the boards and it's probably a bit overwhelming. But anyway, as for me, I just jump in head first!

Wow, this thread is old...lol. Hey welcome to the new people. ^_^

I actually lurk more than post now...mostly because there's just not many threads I feel like posting in...there's not as much that interests me here as there use to be. Though I guess I still post regularly. Also a lot of the time I'm just to lazy to post...lol. And Semele you should post...I actually tend to enjoy the cynical posts because it creates balance.

:/ I post sometimes, but only when I've something interesting to say. If the general aspects of my opinion have already been posted, why waste a teensy bit of cyberspace reiterating it?

Just a thought. I'm also not really around here much, too busy loafing around the house and whatnot.

I post sometimes, but when I don't, it's usually because I don't have anything to add to the conversation, or I feel like what I do have to say has already been said.

Also, sometimes, I get into a mood where I feel like anything I say is going to sound silly, arrogant or offensive. So I type out a message, reread it, then promptly erase it.

(For instance, I nearly erased this message, but then decided that as a lurker, I'm honorbound to post in a thread directed to lurkers.)

I'm a semi-regular poster. I don't post a lot. I don't often have a lot to say, but I'm kinda like that offline, too. I prefer to read, and read, and read... A lot of times, someone else on here has said what I was going to say, and I'm too lazy to click reply just to say "me too" on a lot of things. I do ask questions when I have them, and post when I /do/ have something to say... but most of the time, I prefer to just lurk and read. _inabox_

Ha! See? My thoughts /exactly/... and here I've done it! Posted the same thing, pretty much, and directly under the reply that so echoed my own thoughts. And gosh, we must be twins, because I do the same thing - type out a message, reread it, and erase it because I decide maybe I shouldn't say it after all. And... I, too, nearly erased the first message I wrote to this thread! *lol*

In my lurking days (and the days that I visit, but do not post), I put the board stinks.

To be completely honest, I'm looking for just ONE person who doesn't rub off as a fake and isn't on this board as a way to become "cool", "popular", and "trendy". Not to mention all goody-goody two shoes.

I'm a lurker... I admit it. *blushes*

It might sound silly, but there is so much wisdom on these boards, and I am quite intimidated by it! I can never think of anything to say.

Plus I kind of got started lurking, and it just became a habit. The longer I've stayed quiet, the harder it's been to say anything at all. Sounds weird, but it's the truth of it. *laughs*

I'd like to say thank you though, for all the wonderful information on these boards. I learn something new every time I come here. :)
