Elemental Correspondences

I am of the belief that there are no 'wrong' correspondences for the elements, but wonder if it is ill suited that I live in Australia but use these correspondences;South - Fire, West - Water, N - Earth, East - Air, because I have a strong affiliation with the UK (spiritual, I have never been there), and plan to permanantely live there when I am older. What do you think?

Well to the North you have Jungle countries, so Earth makes since. To the West you have an ocean, Your in the Southern Hemisphere and isn't it warm there? If it fits you personally use it.

The southern hemisphere is only warm near the equator, just like the northern hemisphere ... I dont think scientists in Antarctica would think it was warm ... but I thought what you said ... that what each person uses personally fits ... it's interesting to hear what other people have to say. I just thought I might come up against 'weirdness' because I am using the correspondences of a totally different country on the other side of the world ...

Well, there's a thread in New Pagans that discusses elemental correspondences in more depth - you can find it by looking at the Lessons Thread stuck at the top of that forum, it's one of those lessons I wrote awhile ago.

As far as I'm concerned, and as I think I probably explained there, correspondences are just keys for the mind and so not only can be tailored to individual preferences, but *must* be. It makes no sense to use elemental correspondences that don't work for you.
