Juyat wondewring why people over the ages have worshiped the cat, instead of dogs or something...
it seems that when you think of an animal to worship Cat just pops in the ole' brain...
And I was wondering why we pagans seem to love them soooo much!
And why we use them for our familiars more than not..?
anyone know?
i ammmm curoius (as a cat lol).

The cat was seen as one of the forms of Bast in Egypt. They were also useful as rat catchers. However, coyotes and wolves also figured into mythology just as much as lions and domestic cats. In Egypt Netjer manifested as various animals, you just hear more about the cats because there were temples dedicated to them specifically. Cats can see in areas much darker then we can, they're nocturnal, they purr, they're lithe and land on their feet - way back when we didn't know scientific reasons for this it must've seemed very magical. Also, being nocturnal they are associated with night, and thus mystery and secrets.

;) Either that or they just have really good public relations people..rofl...IMHO it may just be because cats have a certain air of self contained mystery about them that lends itself rather well "divinity". Of course, that leaves Floyd (who just flopped off the top of the TV) and Bastian (who is laying in the middle of the floor on his back with all four feet in the air snoring and drooling) out of the running for divinity...:)

Um, no. It's not that complicated. It's simply because they insist on it.

Thou shalt have no other cats before me!

Pity the poor soul who is owned by a cat and doesn't worship it. Your life will be transformed onto a living hell.

Very true. I think humans are just jealous. I sure am. But then again, I'm a vampire, so I'm closer to perfection than any of you humans (not really) :vamp: . I actually think cats are magickal, more than alot of other animals. I figure they have more powers than a usual animal. I find them very mystical and magnifiscent. I wish I was one. Meow meow. Either a vampire, an elf, or a cat. :) I am soon getting a book on cat magick. Do you think it is a good idea, to umm, kind of worship my cat? I know he would like it... He is a King... My King.

My new kitten Bast (very propoerly named I say.. lol) is/will be my familiar..
She is not yet 3 months, and she is already more attched to me than any other cat I have EVER had! She will not go to bed untill I do, or she will come and bug me untill I do lol. But I am sure that it is common.
I dont know, she just called to something in me when I saw her. I told them no at first, my parents had forbiudden anymore pets, but as I was in the vets office while Dragon (my dog) was getting her shots, something just wham! and hit me, it maaaaade me take her lol.

Cats were feared at one point in history and were seen as evil because it was believed that they could see into the otherworld. They were brought back when their usefulness in keeping castles rodent-free was recognized, especially since rodents carry so much disease.

We worship ours because they demand it! But I don't see any reason that a dog can't be a familiar. I'm sure if I could have one, it probably would be. Only a few of my cats have been my actual familiars. It takes a special connection and not all of them are able to connect with me that way. I have six altogether, and there is only one right now who I consider to be a familiar. He meditates with me and has also been known to choose tarot cards - and he's pretty good!
