Hi there, everyone!

Do any of you know of an herb that would aid in healing- not magickally, but something I could ingest or apply physically? I cut myself several weeks ago when I went hiking and I have this scar on my arm that just won't go away. It's odd because I've never been prone to scarring really. I have another cut from shaving also that seems to be taking a really long time to heal up.
My diet is not diffferent, so that is why I wanted to ask about an herb. I have to eat right and take multi-vitamins because of my job- I get plenty of protein, anti-oxidents, and so on, so I don't see how my diet would be a problem. If you know of anything, I'd really appreciate the help.

Blessings,
Astraea

I don't know about ingestable herbs but you can apply aloe to the cuts it isn't just for burns. That may help some. I know one of the others should have better information for you.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I would suggest aloe vera, it does wonders...applied on the outside of course, but I do know people that drink the juice and claim it heals the insides too.babble babble, that's all I do...

Thank you, both of you, I will definitely try it. I actually have some pure aloe vera gel but I had no idea it would help for this! A friend of mine grows aloe too so this is great, thanks a bunch.

Here's a good recipe for salve for scars.

1 ounce cocoa butter
1/2 ounce flaxseed oil
1/4 ounce rosehip oil
1/4 ounce wheat germ oil
4 drops vetivert essential oil
10 drops palamrosa essential oil
8 drops geranium essential oil
3 drops myrrh essentail oil

Melt cocoa butter over a hot water bath (or double boiler method) & mix in the other oils. As it cools a bit, add in the essential oils. Mix & store in a dark glass jar. Apply to your scars at least twice a day...more often the better. This will also help fade old scars too.

Merry Meet Astraea! I always use Lavender essential oils when I get scares ~ I apply it neat ~ a few drops straight onto the scar morning and night.. and withing a few weeks there is a considerable difference ~ give it a try!
Neuroli is also good just a little expensive to use over a period of time.

A vitamin E capsule does the trick for me. Cut the tip open and smear the oil over the scar, use a bandaid to keep it from rubbing off. Don't use constantly, just overnight.

Wildchild's salve sounds wonderful! I'll have to try it sometime.

I love that stuff!

You can apply it straight like Silver said, or mix some sweet almond oil, a few drops of lavender and a capsule of Vit.E, and use that applied to the scar. My hubby had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands two years ago and used the lavender faithfully on the one and gave up and didn't use it on the other hand. What a difference! Although I think I have to look for an excuse to make Wildchild's salve, that sounds heavenly!
good luck.
