Okay, not to be rude, but I would really like only Australian (or Southern Hemisphere) perspectives on this.

Question: Do you flip the Sabbats around so that they're opposite ... or do you celebrate Samhain on October 31st like America ...?

Basically, I'm needing advice etc on how and why you celebrate the sabbats the way you do.

Anyway comments will be much appreciated.

why you celebrate the sabbats the way you do.

As was mentioned in your other thread, I celebrate the sabbats as they correspond to the season.
Someone mentioned (in the other thread) Yule involving snow (or something). To me Yule represents a time for sleep and reflection.

yep... the sabbats celebrate the seasons, not calendar dates.

if you're in the southern hemisphere Ostara is STILL the beginning of Spring, even if it is in September.
unfortunately (for you), most books are written from a northern point of view, but that's only because our pens don't keep falling off the bottom of the planet! ;)

Like everyone else has mentioned, I flip the sabbats around to correspond with the season. It'd be weird and perhaps a bit silly to celebrate Yule, the Winter Solstice, in Summer, wouldn't i?

See, the thing is, I can get past swapping the equinoxes ... (sorry, the dates have slipped my mind - I believe one is is the 22/23 March)

I guess, I've just been so used to celebrating the commercialised side to Yule, Ostara, and Samhain, that I haven't really been looking at it from a seasonal point of view ... is there any particular ways, that you've found useful in which to overcome that way of thinking, when in relation to the sabbats? Thanks

Well sure. I still celebrate the more commercialized Easter, Christmas and Halloween, but as they are today. Easter I give my daughter and her friends and relatives chocolate eggs. At Christmas I do the present and card thing and at Halloween, I'll let my daughter dress up and buy pumpkin shaped candles and pretend to fly around on a toy witches broom.
But I'll keep the rituals for the sabbats. It just takes a bit of sorting out and getting used to in your head.

celebrate Easter, Halloween and Christmas as secular holidays on the traditional dates, and Ostara, Samhain and Yule according to season.

Okay so basically separate the two ... cool ... I think I can start to do that ... *goes in search of flipped Sabbat dates, that's sitting somewhere on the hard drive*
