Why is it that when you are online or reading the paper for that matter, the cat decides it is time to shower it with affection? Im house sitting now and my sister's cat DEMANDS attention, NOW!

LOL...oh Quixote, I hear you! I swear to Gaea that my cat (appropriately named Collar) is like a noose around my neck if I'm online or trying to read or just trying to be ALONE....we call him the part-tabby-part-battering-ram cat!!!! Take heart though...remember at least the cat's being affectionate and not gnawing on your leg or something!!! Cats also can sense stress or negative emotion, so that may be why she/he is paying so much attention to you. My cat? He just loves to be scratched, and he'll butt you in the leg, head, arm, just about anything to get your attention!!!

my PJ has to be on my keyboard or my mouse pad whenever I am online. And he is not content sitting on my lap, being petted. I keep trying to convince him that the mouse pad is really not a "mouse!" I also have another cat who is a battering ram, but he has to get me at 5am when I would rather be asleep.

Her name is B.K. (Butter Kup) but I call her Bear. She too demands affection and usually at the most inconvenient times.

She greets meet at the door every day when I get home from work and will not leave me alone until I pick her up and walk to the window - where she demands to be put down. Then we play Shoes and Socks. She loves to try and catch the socks when I throw them over her head. She used to attempt that with the shoes until she ACTUALLY caught one - GAME OVER!

She drinks from the faucet in the bath tub and can't eat directly from her dish - nope! She has to toss it to the floor, Kill it, and then eat.

She even has her own web page and email address. You can find it at http://www.grannytom.com. Just follow the "Family" link on the left.

Oh yeah, she also likes to climb screen doors. She REALLY digs annoying my room mate. She good at too.

Having a cat is the same as having a child. IE, they never need nor want your attention until you're attention is elsewhere. :D

All you guy's cats sound cool.
I no longer have pets because I'm never home, but this buddy of mine has a cat that uses the toilet. I've heard of other cats doing that but it just cracks me up. And the cat boxes too. If you put up your fists he'll bat at them with his paws. Pretty cool cat.

My kitty, Toby, always jumps on the newspaper or on the book i'm trying to read, if i have it on "his" counter. I have 2 dogs so we keep Toby's food on the counter so the others don't eat it. Anything you put on there, books, papers, bags, food, he'll either sit on it or knock it off.

His constant need for attention only happens either when I'm trying to go to sleep or first thing in the morning. Usually, it's right before I fall asleep. He climbs on top of me and just lays there.

Oh, Rant! She's a doll baby! I love the mouse graphic on the bottom! 8O

She looks like my cat would have as a kitten. :D My cat is 9, and weighs about 20 pounds. Imagine a cat about 10 inches tall at the top of her ears, that's all belly ~ she reminds me of Buddha if I sit her up like "people".

The last cat I had was named Chocolate, I dont know why I named him that b/c he was mid night black (of course). But then he ran away 'cause of the over 13 dogs we had!

I don't think it's just when your reading or online! My cat is like seriously strange...no matter what time of day...no matter what you are doing...this cat will meow till the cows come home!!! After a while she starts to loose her 'voice'!! We love her, but realize that she complains just as much as we do!!!

My cat, Morpheus (we just call him Cat, Kit Cat, or Morph), always demands my attention when I'm on the computer.
I have one of those computer desks where it kinda wraps around you.... so I have desk to my left and right, with the puter in the middle. Well.... my cat will sit on the desk and reach out and pat me on the shoulder until I give him attention. He then climbs up in my lap, lays down and goes to sleep. He's happy just sitting there, I don't even have to touch him....

As to other habits, etc.....

He drinks out of the faucet, (or used to when there was enough counter to sit on), he lays down in the bathtub after I have a shower.... he teases my dog into chasing him/play fighting with him....
.....and just the other night he was sleeping on the windowsill when he rolled the wrong direction and fell off -- twice!! hehe :)

My husband wanted to train our cat (when we get one) to use the toilet, I think he had a friend who did it with their cat or something. However I had to point out that open bathroom doors and toilet seats left up won't really work when we have a toddler around the house also! hehe

I have two cats, Temacha and Trebuchet. Both are Tonkinese (half Siamese/half Burmese). Both "talk" a lot and love to climb things. I still haven't figured out how they get on top of the fridge by themselves. Temacha is really friendly, he will investigate anyone who comes to the door, then roll on their feet. Trebuchet is a bit more shy, but once he gets to know you, he will climb on you and fall asleep. Also, when he wants to be held, he lets me know by jumping into my arms (no matter that I already have my hands full with something else).

I wouldn't trade them for anything, they make the bed warmer in the winter! :)

At night, when I want to work on the computer or watch T.V., two of my cats, the two who are littermates, alternately put their butts in my face and wrap their tales around my mouth or my eyes. I tell them to get down. They do...
for about 3 seconds. Then It's back to the butt and tale thing. Oh well.

I have three males, and I rather miss the company of a female. My girl died last year. My boys are all sweet and even tempered. She wasn't. She was a real b$%#h, and I kinda miss it. She would tap my arm when she wanted to be petted. When she was done, she would slap me and hiss. She used to punch me upside the head when she was really mad at me. Now I just get love. I've never even been hissed at by my boys. My littermates have just had a birthday, and were 5 years old. Seems like they were kittens just yesterday.

LOL! Try figuring out how a cat gets on TOP of a door!! My husband's cat Phred (yes, you read right!) used to scare the bejeezus out of everyone by meowing at them from the TOP of doors, tops of fridges, the inside of lampshades (that was a RIOT), you name it...quite the inventive cat, him :D

R.I.P Phred...we miss you!

Well Rae, you've got me beat with the cats on doors. I've never seen that one.
I did figure out how Trebuchet got onto the top shelf of the closet, he climbed up the clothes. Of course, Temacha saw that and then he tried it too. It is very amusing to see two cats hanging on the hanging clothes (until you realize it is your silk blouse they are putting holes and pulls in). But then again I'll let Temacha get away with just about anything. He was born with malformed/semi-functioning kidneys. We give him fluid every day. The vet says he should have been dead over a year ago. No one can figure out why this little runt is still alive. I'm just lucky I guess.

He is loved, that's why. People, animals, things? It matters not. They will hang on as long as possible if Love is fluid. He may also have a lesson for you and/or yours.

Wolves are thought to be the keepers of the spirit world but, did you know there is a genetic link between cats and wolves. Read it in some boring journal. They go back a very long way. Temacha may have purpose here - in this life.

Blessings,

Tiger Lilly was my cat's name. . . she was the sweetest and funniest cat you ever met ^__^

She did this adorable thing, she would sit on windowsills or on the porch and try to talk birds into coming down to her, or just talk to them. She'd make these pathetic chirp-meows LMAO it was just so cute to watch her, you could tell she was concentrating.

She would always come stay at the foot of my bed when I was sick, and try to get me to pet her when I was crying or upset or hurting, because she knew it would distract me and make me feel better (ususally did). And even though she hated being put in my old baby clothes she let me ^^;;;

I remember sometimes she'd have one of those days where just SOMETHING pissed her off, and she'd be a growling fuzz ball and I'd sit there for like an hour with her in my lap lecturing her about not to hiss at me, I'm her momma and she'd make these meows like "oh come on" or "jeeze!! I'm sorry!" and it was so funny, there was practically an actual dialogue between us ^^;

and she hated when I played my synthisizer-keyboard when she was in the room. . . she'd come over meowing and step on the keys and meow until I turned it off LOL and then she'd be all nuzzles for about two minutes then leave ^^;; she hated that thing.

One day I guess over half a year ago she just kinda left, looked back once, then didn't come back. . . she was I think about 7 or 8. . . ever since then I feel her spirit hanging out in my room, especially when I'm upset. She still tries to get me to pet her and cuddle her to distract me ^^;; worked VERY well the first time I noticed her 8O she startled the heck outta me until I recognized her. So she's not really gone. I wuv her.

I still see my other cat Luke (one of Tiger's kittens) sometimes, he used to wake me up by batting my toes in the morning. He was such a sweetheart. Sometimes I feel him around. He stops by to say hi every once in a while. . . I'm just glad they stay nearby, it's a great comfort. I think even my pet rat blackie hangs out here too o.o;; man is my room crouded! ^_~

We have 2 cats - Orion who is a black neutered tomcat and I swear he's Puck reincarnated. Very mischievious. He's clawed my window frames (jumping into the window) and regularly makes his way to the window in the middle of the night by jumping off my head while I'm sleeping. He also has a habit of biting your ear or nose or any other ahem funny appendages while you're asleep if he wants to be fed. He's also very friendly, curiuos, and has almost torn my screen door and windows open trying to get out.

The second is an orange and white tabby spayed female named Andromeda. She's the opposite of Orion; loving to sleep most of the day, quiet, and very, very shy. Only my fiance, one friend who's been staying here for several weeks, and I are able to get anywhere near her. She got spayed when she woke us up at 4 am on a day I had an exam with her yowling and fighting with Orion (he knew to hold her down and bite her but didn't know what else to do, he was only 5 months old!:))

I consider Orion my familiar even though they are both obsessed with getting onto my altar and into my circles.
