Has anyone else ever seen a ghost?

I saw one when I lived in Norwalk, CA. I was renting a room in a two bedroom home that housed 5 – a Mom, Dad, and 3 children that slept in the parent room. I initially thought it was because they needed the money. I later discovered that it was due to them refusing to sleep in the other room because of a ghost.

One night – before I knew about the children’s refusal, I was in that state just before sleep – the one where you can twitch and wake yourself. I felt a presence and opened my eyes. By the closet, I saw was looked like static electricity but very faint. I dismissed it as one of those pre-REM things but, the sense of presence didn’t leave. I opened my eyes again and it was right next to the bed. Immediately, I turn the lights on and it was gone – though the presence remained for a little while.

The following night, nothing. However, the night after that, it was there again. I felt it and could barely see it but I felt no danger or intimidation. I got the feeling that it was just checking me out – making sure that I was an okay person. Of course, I still slept with the light on.

The following morn, I asked the land-lady why the children didn’t sleep in that room. She ask why and I said that I think I felt something strange. She stated, “Oh, I guess you met, Sam. That’s what the kids call him”.

It went away again. But, a few night later, she came to the living room where I was watching TV and asked if I would follow her. We went to the door of my room and she pointed to the closet after shutting off the lights. She asked if “That” was what I had seen. Sure enough, and it had the shape of a man.

For the next few hours, this entity would travel from my room, to the kitchen then, back to the room. On occasion it would go to the master bedroom and stand at the doorway. What was really weird was, after it had gone to the kitchen you could smell a faint scent of coffee and/or cigars.

I tried using cards to communicate but it wouldn’t move them. Off and on for the next 7 months, Sam would come to visit every couple of days or so.

Cool. Weird, but cool.

That's an interesting story! I'ts funny that you mentioned "static electricity". I sometimes get this "feeling" and I can feel static electricity all around me and can almost hear a buzzing in my head. The energies around me change, although not in a bad way, and sometimes it really gives me the creeps. If I go into another room in the house sometimes it will go away only to return when I go back into the other room. Nobody else has ever felt it.

Years ago I was laying in bed and saw something (I also thought it was pre-REM but have never convinced myself that it wasn't real) it was a small globe of blue light floating in the hallway outside of my bedroom. I stared at it rubbing my eyes and sat up to get a better look, when I did it came up to eye level and floated into the room over my head and then sped up and hit the ceiling and exploded into what seemed like millions of tiny little blue specs. All the while this was happening I heard a hissing/buzzing noise (almost like whats been described as white noise).

There were other episodes that would take too long to explain so I won't get into them. Except that they were all very different.

Blessed Be,

Well, I never actually SAW a ghost, however, I've always felt their prescence. When my Poppy died (dad's dad), I was very very sad, for a long time. We were very close. The first time I ever really felt him in the room with me, was one night when I couldn't sleep. I started to think of him and how I would climb on his lap and curl up and watchTV with him (he died when I was 13, so all I have are childhood memories). When I felt him, just sitting on my bed stroking my hair. I told my Mom and she believed me, but I didn't really share it with the rest of my family, until I went to visit my Aunt & Uncle in VA. That's when my Aunt told us a story about how she heard my Poppy walking around in the house. Seems, my Uncle & Grandma went into town & left my Aunt alone in the house. She heard someone walking in the basement jiggling keys. My Poppy did this ALL the time when he was walking. Well, that freaked her a bit, and she got even more FREAKED, when she heard someone walking in the garage. My grandparents used to have this metal thingy in front of the garage door, and it made this sound whenever someone came in, it was their sort of doorbell, i guess. Well, she heard the grill, and looked outside to see if it was my Uncle, course it wasn't and she completely flipped and locked herself in the bathroom until my Uncle & grandma found her. Then a few years later, my grandma passed away. Suddenly, it was due to a car accident. So the family gathered at my grandparents home. Now, my dad is the oldest of 8 kids, and I have 18 first cousins. Most of us were camped out at their house. Our next encounter with Poppy, was definitely a scary thing, cause a family secret came out, and it caused my cousin to get into an arguement with his mom. My Dad & his father made him go sleep in the garage. Well, his brother, me & my brother, snuck him back in the house and we were camped out in the living room. I guess Poppy got made he fought with his Mom, cause we heard these heavy footsteps come down the hall. we thought it was my Uncle & looked but there wasn't anyone there!!!! then we heard someone sigh and sit in my Poppy's chair. Well, we were shaking then. the only words my cousin could squeak out was "i'm sorry Pop" and we shut our eyes and went to sleep!

Okay, that was a little long. Sorry, but those are my favorite stories about my ghost experience. I have others, but I'm sure I've bored you all enough. :D

I am fortunate to have seen two ghosts in my life. The first when I was about 13 years old. My greatgrandmother (Nana) had passed away just 6 months before and I was having a hard time dealing with her passing. She was the glue that kept our family together (a very large Roman Catholic French family), and after her death, everything just sort of fell apart. I woke up (at least I think I woke up...can never be sure if it was a dream or not) to see my Nana sitting on the edge of my bed and telling me that I was to 'stay tough, ma petite belle chou...you will be alright' and then I fell asleep listening to her singing me an old french Christmas tune that she used to sing to me as a little girl (Il est Ne, Le petit enfant).

The second ghost was that of my mother's father. Grandpaw was a big part of my life until his death two days after my 17th birthday. I think it was he that convinced me (although at that time I never knew what he meant!) that I was not meant to be the stolid Christian that the rest of my family was...his mother was a Romany Gypsy, and, I believe, a witch. Grandpaw appeared to me about a month after he had passed away and oddly enough, didn't say a word, just touched my cheek, smiled and then disappeared. He was a man of very few words, that much I remember, but the words he did speak were always comforting and filled with meaning.

I feel blessed that these two wonderful members of my family chose me to appear to. Even if they were dreams (which I don't believe they were), I feel very special knowing that even in death, my Nana and Grandpaw are still looking after me.

I have only seen one ghost, but I feel them frequently, and my hubby sees them often. We have one, a little girl, about six, who visits us all the time. She seems fascinated by my pet rats. We think it's because the era she lived in( the late 1800's) they weren't a pet. Also, one of my friends, who died in a car wreck just before high school graduation, comes to visit often, too. The only one I've seen, was an uncle who died, and I think he came to say goodbye, because it was just after his death. I have never felt threatened by a spirit. Just my story.

Yes I have and do. I speak with them for others from time to time.

Thank you , Rea for setting the record straight. In that, I mean, that you have been “Blessed” with a vision/feeling of more then one. That is truly blessed.

I have seen but one, though I have felt many others. Had one – a mischievous one at that – in my last apartment that seemed to enjoy walking across the bed. It may not have even been a human spirit. I would feel something walk across the bed – down the side. ‘tween my legs, over the pillow. I would sit up and look for my cat but she would be nowhere to be found. This happened too often to be that “pre-REM-sleep-spasm-thing” I was talking about earlier. No, this was real.

Though I am not afraid of them, they do startle me now-and-again.

Blessed are the Elders that walk amongst us,

I was one of the fortunate ones that has seen them all my life!!
This to me is a special gift. And since I work in NursingHomes I see them often, they are normally very active. I also at times only see static or a glow and have even heard them and never seen them in some places.

Only once have I seen one that scared me really bad it was like he was looking right through me and had an unsettling feeling that was with him.

We have a frequent visitor on my floor at the hospital. We used to have a hospice unit and the very first lady who passed away visits often. Several other patients and family members have reported seeing her. She was a young woman who had a rough life. She was a stripper before she became ill. One lady told me she was going to go on home because that nice young whore told her it was ok. I knew exactly who she was talking about. She did pass away that night.

I have never seen her myself but some of my coworkers have. She used to like to watch the religious channel while she was there. Several times I have walked by that room unoccupied to find the tv on that channel. I turned it off once and it came back on...I left it alone after that!!

I don't know if anyone here does the "ebay Thing" or not. This is a link to a thread from the eBay chat discussion "chat" board -the Soapbox. The thread was started last July and is still going strong with over 800 posts so far. There are some great posts, when you have a minute (or a few hours) take a look. It's well worth the read, I promise.

I guess I should have said that the thread at eBay I posted the link to is the same topic as this one.
