OK shoot me if this sounds in ANY WAY stupid. :RuNew:

i began looking towards paganism 6/7 months ago, with the huge change in my life, moving to france and not speaking the language and leaving behind the very few friends and 2 family memebers that still talk to me , i felt it was the right time , christianity held nothing for me, im not knocking it, everyone is entitled to their belifs and thats how it should be.I was married in a christian ceramony almost 4 years ago now.

But only 6 days ago, i "chose" my goddess , brighid, with being scottish, i felt a connection with the celtic deities and the mythology surrounding them.
And now after looking at the symbols of Brighid , vultures snakes fire etc etc, i feel she has somewhat been subtle about asking me to choose this path.

But now i have a problem. I have reserched my goddess, i do not yet have a god , but alot of the prayers ceremonies etc etc, are extreamly complex, and me being me , i dont want to try something im not ready for. How do i go about honouring my goddess? are ther simplified versions of prayer, without going through her family line to ask her to join me ,can meditation only, be a way of honouring my goddess, or do i have to learn the rituals? from what ive read in MW i see people pray to their chosen ones in very personal ways, but i want to know if there is a basic template you all work from.

I have begun making my alter, and so far its looking good, i was given a staue , brass, a few years back, of a woman holding a child , and i feel this bring together her maiden and mother aspects wonderfully, round the staues feet i have a pile of nuts, a tiny corn sheaf i made myself and a bundle of fresh lavender, being in france this stuff grows like weeds hehe, i have 2 candle holders decorated with blue and purple beads , my staff is behind the alter , i have a makeshift chalice, and an athme with a white handle depicting a stag near a stream, and in the metal a carved dragon. and to complete this a collage made by my son from yellow card and leaves, and then laminated.

any information would be good, on rituals, mediations and asking for her presance. i dont feel im doing brighid any justice by sitting twidling my thumbs , she is showing me signs to let me know she is there, there is a vulture colony on the mountain, with about 1000 + of the glorious creatures, and its rare that they come into the valley yet for 3 days i have seen and heard them, so i know she is being patient with me.

a confussed and lost Gothie :help:

Definitely- People pray and honor deities in their own personal ways. Find a way that suits you. It sounds like you have put a lot of effort into your spirituality all ready. Your altar sounds so lovely. In my opinion, keep researching your goddess. Learn all you can about her. As time goes on, you'll learn more about her through your own meditation and patience. And as for meditations and rituals, if you are creative, make up your own. I think that your goddess would rather hear your own words instead of someone else's.

Many people honor Brighid by keeping a fire lit in her name.
A good way to get inttuned with her is to meditate on a candle for a period of time. Whether the flame is light or not.. try to visualize the candle through the course of an entire day. Just thinking about the flame and Brighid. Pay attention to your surroundings, and make a note of anything you see in nature.. no matter how small.
