Spread Lesson 1 ~ 3 Card Spead

Hiya all,
Dagda and I thought it would be good to start up some lessons again! We've covered all the meanings of the cards and have been reading for each other, now lets talk spreads! And try out some together, read for each other, compare notes on readings for ourselves, discuss and have more fun :)

We thought it would be to start with the classic Three Card Spread ~ Past, Present and Future

This is a brilliant spread for a quick general reading or to ask the Tarot a question.
Shuffle your cards until you feel happy, then fan them out, face down and pick three that 'catch' you as you run your hand over them all. Once you have three lay them out in a row, 1, 2 & 3 and turn them over one at a time ~

Position 1: Past ~ Past influences on the situation
Position 2: Present ~ Present situation
Position 3: Future ~ Probable future influences

So your assignment is (should you choose to accept it ;)) is to do this spread for any of the 'victims' here or for yourself and post your results and your thoughts on this spread here!
Then we can all discuss our findings and any other ways we can use this spread ~ as it has been interpreted so many times in different ways ~ Do you know a few different versions of this spread? What way works best for you?

I just did my 3 card spread of the day:

2 of Cups, 4 of Cups, and the 7 of swords.

For my daily readings, I don't use past, present, future.....but Morning, Afternoon, Evening.

My interpretation of these 3 cards are:

Morning~~2~communication, attraction, thoughts of another...etc.

Afternoon~~4~distrations, dissatisfaction

Evening~~7~an uphill battle, conflict, ....generally when this comes up for me, that means there is going to be an argument. :(

I think this already is fitting in...I can totally see it. I've been thinking about an ex~ alot lately,....so I understand the 4 of cups....the 2 of cups, I feel is that I'm with someone...but thinking about another...and I don't want this to come between us,...but then, it's pretty much unavoidable. :( ...then the argument will ensue because the guy I'm with just isn't filling the void that the ex~ left me in. My thoughts ....all morning have been on the ex~. I have been trying to find a way to get him out of my thoughts, but he left almost a year ago.....and I'm still finding it hard to go on. :(

Okay.....if any of you have any insight to the reading that I have overlooked, please jump in and tell me what you get from this reading. :D

Ok, I gave it a try...and it does speak accurately of my life.

1) Past- Page of Wands- restless, dissatisfaction, new creative stirrings.
2) Present- The High Priestess- Persephone- heightened intuition, uncanny sense that something is "at work" in one's life, discovering life purpose.
3) Future- Ten of Cups- ongoing contentment and permanence in affairs of the heart.

Is a time in my life when the veil seems to be lifting and I can see things at work in my life- things with an otherwordly influence. It would take way too much time to explain it all (as if you want to hear my life story!:p ).
Hubby is a powerful medium and has been doing work for a website on haunted places. He doesn't do it to be exploitive, but helps take earth-bound spirits to the other side. This is Hecate's duty in mythology. Lately I've been finding that powerful dreams throughout my life, powerful symbols, things that draw me, all are symbols of Hecate- so many that I cannot believe that I didn't make the connection before. I've always, since a little kid, had dreams of Hecate and that I was running from her. I've always known that that I am strongly clairsentient, but it has always scared me and I've tried to keep the door shut. However, since finding all the connections to Hecate, I feel safe and protected. I've been going with hubby on his "Spirit Rescue" trips and learning to be comfortable receiving impressions. I believe it will strengthen the relationship between hubby and I, give us something very purposeful to accomplish together.
Even the Tarot Archetype thread was another connection for me today. My primary archetype was The High Priestess. I use a deck called The Mythic Tarot, in which The High Priestess is pictured as Persephone- and Persephone is Hecate's daughter.

Card 1: Present situation~ Hierophant
Card 2: Attitude towards situation~ 10 of Pentacles
Card 3: What to keep in mind regarding situation~ 3 of Cups.

My interp:
The Hierophant shows my religious Path. Currently, I am working on my values, morals and religious beliefs. The 10 of Pentacles shows me that I have an attitude of stability and contentment. I am going where I want to be and am rejoicing in that knowledge. The three of cups says to me that in the security of my endeavor, I should be having fun and learning to relax in my work, and to not take everything so seriously. I have a tendency to do that- take things too seriously :)

Does that make sense?

Ok ~ Kiya I did a reading for you yesterday ~ Present, Near Future and Overall influence...
I got all the cards ~ well very similar ones to when we did your reading last week and thought this again was about work and that nasty little man!
3 of swords, knight of swords and the Ace of Cups ~

At the moment ~ this week, your feeling even more emotional about his annoyances and he's starting to really get to you, you may want to confront him and have it out because he is getting to you and effecting you at work so much but I really think you should try and be above him and not let his attutude bother you..youve got to be tough and sit quite and not retaliate or he'll just have more to go on.. you know you are better then him as a person and at work so just be proud of this and dont let him get to you ~ he's not worth it!

Carrying on from this, he's going to get even more wound up and want you to do the same.. he may start talking about you behind your back or you may to him..theres going to be allot of talk I think...whatever happens I still think you have to be really cleaver and not let him effect you..just be cool and calm hun! Maybe even try and get along with him, and try to establish some common ground.. your going to have to work together so somthing has to be sorted out doesnt it..Use all your brilliant skills and you can overcome this!

You have so much love and happiness in you life! Theres been allot of new starts ~ new house, love and work. So you have a very strong loving influence behind you (your man! and your inner spirit) which is keeping you going and happy! This is a brilliant light and will continue to grow and flouish!! Alrighty babe!! This is really good!!
I got the World, then the Page of Wands, then the Seven of Cups

Think weve had the world as what he thought of you before!! Remember in your reading last week!! :D I think he thinks that you are his world, his dream, his destiny and he can only live with you in his world...He maybe thinks you have been everything to each other and our still now just not at this time..not aloud to be..you know you are soul mates and I think this card is saying that you will achieve completion and your destiny's! Or he wants ya too :)

He wants all the best for you ~ He wants you to be confident and happy and really go for your ambitions and desires in life! Maybe him! He wants you to maybe take a risk on him and ride towards him but ultimately I think he wants the absolute best for you!

What will happen? Hmm this could be read two different ways ~ Wishful thinking and hoping for something and getting it or not getting it...Im reading with my Mythic deck which shows Aphrodite pointing a girl who is praying in a direction, guiding her...
I think whatever happens there will be allot of choices and time yet to come still..but it could all be positive you just have to let it!
Maybe a few more complications but I get the feeling from you rather him..maybe because you see it as such a dream and unobtainable..youve got such good cards for what he wants and thinks ~ just go for it girl!! Dont doubt, hope and wish tooo long ~ he wants you to take action ~ page of wands and to move forward ~ maybe this is the way?

You are right, it looks like She is pointing the way! So, maybe I am getting help from another realm/plane!.....and things will start happening! I have prayed for help....so maybe my answer is on the way! :D

Its quite spooky that the world came up again in the same place ~ well how I interperated it last time... and I just wrote after that I thought the page was passion and you posted about you telling him you want his love ~ I think you completely have it ~ he thinks the world of you! Maybe passion is the only way he feels he can communicate this at the moment...Men huh!

Heres mine for today ~

Six of swords ~ Ive been thinkign allot this morning ~ My dreams made me think and also with the Full Moon coming up tonight and tomorrow I have been reading and thinking about the Moon more... preparing for tonight. Ive also been writting allot of emails, which have been flowing with words and thoughts so Ive been communicating with my self and others allot.

King of Pentacles ~ Working hard still I think is to come, Im in the mood to work and learn today so this fits too! Im also meeting two good friends later on tonight ~ one which I will be finding some information out for today and running an errand so maybe ~ protecting?

Ace of Cups ~ This ties in with my friends again and the Full Moon ~ I am planning to do a few things tonight so hopefully it looks like they are going to be successfull, productive, happy and great fun!

(Dagda ~ that was wierd about yesterday's reading!! ~ Hope did it turn out?)

Last night I decided to do a quicky reading for myself. Mind you this wasn't my normal Daily Reading for myself; I did it near bed time....

I got:

The World, 7 of Pentacles, Empress

As far as positions go, I read the 7 as the situation, and the other two cards were just modifiers.....or added insight. I didn't ask a question, just shuffled absently and then cut the deck and dealt.

Okay, so what REALLY are the odds that the World would come up yet again in that same position that I've had it in at least 3 times in the past week or two?? (I say at least because it's come up more like 5 or 6 times in that same position...but 3 were discussed here on the board.)

I hope that Silver's interpretation was accurate ..."What he thinks of me"....the world....I thought about that spread the entire day after I read it. I began to wonder, if it's not a conclusion....a completed cycle. If he's moving on....like he's come to terms with what's transpired between us (what he's done) and has decided to move on?? ...like he's just happy about the way things are/aren't between us. It was just a thought, but I wanted to voice it. :D

Anyways, from the reading I did last night.....I feel that (7 Pentacles) I'm in a waiting period financially or otherwise. (which is true....current boyfriend is waiting to hear about a job that would be AWESOME if he got it as the pay is awesome!) The modifiers....are both good cards. Fulfillment, completeness, abundance, warmth. ...so I feel in the end, everything will be okay.

Yeah but was this card for your future or past? Because with me it has always been in your past or what he thinks about you....

Maybe when we start a new lesson on a more advanced spread I can read for you on this subject again?

I find that the PPF spread is sort of sporadic.....sometimes it's accurate.....other times......??

I feel that after I lay the spread....sometimes it just comes to mind that past and future positions are Modifiers and don't particularly relate to "Past" and "Future".

I'm still working some of the other ideas for the position meanings.....I think the Love spread you did for me.....was VERY good. Gives great insight where previously there was none. :D
