just curious, when you were little, was there a character in a book or tv show that you especially liked, maybe identified yourself with? maybe like an idol?
for me, it was she-ra *giggle*, she was soo cool, and had a flying horse. :elf:
are he-man and she-ra even still on tv, or are they over the hill? i wouldn't know, i don't watch tv.

Indeed. I've just never related to male figures much, mostly because the idolized males are nothing like me what so ever and I tend to gravitate towards women more in general. :hrmm:

awww, just teasin ya. superman's cool.
i'm glad someone touched on the topic of the D-cups (no pun intended) because one of the many concepts i'm planning for a comic book is a female heroine that is, well a bit more realistic, figure-wise. what do you guys think, my roommate eddie, who is a comic freak, says they simply won't sell. i did this one figure, (a female version of the grim reaper) and asked him his honest opinion, and he kept makeing me change it, giving her more tits n fanny till she looked like the typical comic book bimbo.
so, what do you think, would it sell, or is the barbie doll figure compulsory for a successful comic book heroine?

when I was a child, other than She-Ra, my hero was my Grandmother. She was always so strong... She was the mother of six and took care of three dying family members during it all. I looked up to her for having the strength to do all that she's done and still be a wonderful person. I thank her for being such a strong woman and even now, just a week after surgery, she's coming out of the hospital and all. She's just so amazing to me and I'm glad she's been there for me.

My heroes were always kid characters with seemingly non-existent or evil parents and wild adventures under their belts: Alice (in Wonderland), Pippi, Pierre ("I don't care."), Matilda, etc. Brain over brawn is never a yawn.
On the topic of a true-to-life female comic hero, well Mothwench, look no further than one of your signature pics...Death and all the women of the Endless are wonderful characters, none too busty, one is downright ugly and the Sandman series is still selling! Do the character you want and worry about selling it later (IMHO).

 pierre, that's another one i'd completely forgotten about!
thankies, for that advice. i think my signature wench is some japanese comic figure, but i'm not sure.
i haven't bought a copy of sandman in such a long time that i didn't even know there was a woman in it.
one more i can think of is kabuki- but again, this is a japanese comic so naturally the women are more androgynous, and it didn't sell well at all, although the story was awesome and the artwork was all that and more.
tell ya what, i'll get my sketches to a photocopying shop next week so i can size them down so they fit in the scanner, and i'll post some and see what you think... :)

I would love to see your work! I will keep an eye out for your post (in Art, I presume?). Thanks.
I remember the signature "wench" you have being in a book of short stories inspired by the Sandman series. That was another artist's rendition of Death. I could not find the title of that book or the artist. I am not very familiar with Japanese art, or comics, but in my little opinion poll universe, androgyny is more pallatable. But then again, I am odd.
