Rarely do I ever have a flying dream. Many psychologists believe that dreaming of yourself flying directly relates to your situations and feelings towards the current state of your life. Generally, they say, that a vision of yourself gliding like a bird translates as a freedom from stress, yet struggling to lift off or an inability to fly after failed attempts relays to a more negative conclusion, most likely an internal situation.
Personally, I have never soared through the air like an eagle in any dream I can remember. But instead, I usually am restricted to the ability of weightlessly jumping, only to hover for a moment before slowly descending to ground again. I could imagine this simulates a wanting to be free, but my relentless attachment to my own feelings towards something keeps me from doing so.
Now, I know almost everyone has had a flying dream at some point in his or her life, so I thought I would be clichéd…I just find it interesting on what other people’s flying dreams are like.

man, im like the kung fu master in my dreams. I can do anything. it's weird though, I always do this dorky little flapping my arms thing so I can take off. But my real life is nothing like that. *sighs* You know, before I forced myself to lucid dream- i couldn't do any of those things and I had nighmares every night. I know you can control your dreams, too.

~~~~mm~~~~ Yes I have read that you can control a Dream and that the first step is lucid dreaming .. But says just thinking about what you want to dream right befor you fall off to sleep is first step to Lucid dreaming ,,, But I have never been able to control a Dream Yet ,,, (Yet that is ),,,lol,,:)
I occasionally have flying dreams. . . everything, though, relates to running. I have to run very quickly to "take off" so to speak.
More often, I have my running dreams. I have the ability to run incredibly quickly, and while I am doing so, I weigh much less than I normally do. I can leap up onto fences and such things. Almost always it involves running away from someone or something, though. And often, eventually, I lose the ability and have to try to find my way back, or I wake up.
Once I had a dream where I could fly, but only with assistance.
I had one dream, once, where I used this teleportation thing. . . I soared up through this energy webwork. . . and so high, I could see all the stars in the universe, and all where each web was connected. . . and I thought of a specific place, and whoosh- I soared so quickly I could hardly realize it, and slowly descended into the portal place. Which people didn't always know about. It was like I shifted into this otherrealm and when you arrive you phase back in. When you see someone else leave by it, it sent out this big ripple, like in water, onlly in the air and senses, energy, spirit. It rocked.
I also love the dreams where you can breathe underwater.
I've had dreams where I can breathe underwater...but can't remember any flying dreams. Usually I have nightmares.
I've had that dream too, where you can breathe underwater...I think it was after I had floated down from one of my poor, sad little "wanna-be" flying dreams. I happened to descend into a river, I believe...then could breathe under the water.
I've had flying dreams, but its less like flying and more like swimming in mid air.
I've also had a lot of very vivid dreams where i can physically feel things clearly.
I rather like them...it's like being a mermaid. It's like flying, only underwater.
Willow...are you sure that while in your dreams you are breathing while submerged in water...or breathing while submerged in alcohol? ;) Because that would have a totally different meaning...
hahaha, I guess that would depend on the night!
Seriously, my hubby and I were having dinner and discussing various weird dreams we were having as of late, and out of nowhere he started talking about flying dreams! Apparently, last week he won first place at a flying contest (in his dreams, of course). He said you just have to start running and flap your arms really hard.
