I found this poem awhile ago but forgot to write down who wrote it. Can someone help me find out who did? And are Aset and Isis the same?
I am Aset, daughter of the earth and sky
I am the mother of power
I am the sister of authority
I am the wife of death
I am the lady of life
I am the adversary of the enemy of my people
I know the secret and powerful name
I am the lady of all magics
I am watcher of the limits, I test it, and I break it
I bring life out of death
My wings cause the breath of life
I am the wife and mother of sorrows
I am the mighty throne of power
I am Aset, Queen of heaven
I endure through the ages
My people have not forgotten me.

Yes, Aset is the Kemetic name for Isis (if I recall correctly).
I'm moving this to Gods and Goddesses. :)

Are they the same? Yes and no. The Greeks worked the Egyptian Gods into their beliefs, but there were changes. When you read of Isis (the Greek name) you will generally be reading about a great mother Goddess. If you look into the original Egyptian myths you'll find Aset not only picked on Sutekh but even left a snake in Ra's path which bit him, then refused to help him until he gave her his true name (names were very powerful in Egypt and by learning his name she gained power). Isis has developed more into an all mother Goddess, whereas Aset has a different feeling about her. Some see them as one and the same, some see them as two different deities - I know one Kemetic who works with both as separate deities actually.

That is really kool. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing. *hugs* Also, I'd like to comment on the Aset/Isis thing. The Egyptians and the Greeks actually still perceived her in much the same way. I've studied the Egyptian religion/mythology extensively and I have moderate knowledge of the Greek, b/c I used to work with Artemis. Anyway, the word "Isis" is just the Greek translation of the Goddess. After all, Isis is known as the "Lady of 10,000 names." The only major differece in the two versions of Her are that the Greeks consorted her with Serapis and not Osiris. All of the deities of Kemet (Egypt) as we know them are called by the Greek names. Horus is actually Heru, Isis is Aset/Auset, Osiris is Ausar/other various spellings. Most of these with Greek names, however, are the deities of the Osirian myths b/c those are the ones that had the most influence over the Egyptians and the Greeks. The cult of Isis and Osiris spread worldwide. It is historically proven that cults of the Osirian triad and temples dedicated specifically to Isis were found as far as England and India. The Isian religion also heavily influenced Christianity...specifically Catholocism. An interesting story to read is entitled The Golden Asse by Lucius Apuleius. It tells of his encounter and devotion to Isis.
