View Full Version : At what point were you born?

Meaning, were you normal, and born at 9 months, early, late? I'm just curious, and what "side-effects" if you will, are there to being born late or early, if you know them.

I was born at 7 1/2 months. I was a little over 4 pounds, headfull of jet black hair, hardly any nails, other than that I was fine. I have no medical problems now either.

As far as I know, I was born exactly 2 weeks late... I don't know any other details, but physically I'm sound. (A little out of shape, that's all... ) :)

I was born on time, with black hair, but then it all fell out and I was blad for a year, and it came back fluffy blonde..lol.
The dark brown in my avatar image is nearly my natural color now.

I was born with jet black hair, blue eyes, and dark skin. My paternal aunt wondered if the milkman brought me, and on my mother's side... funny story. My grandmother brought me with her to her work one day to show me off, she works for a phillipino man (asian), and everyone thought I was one of his kids. :T Now I have medium/dark brown hair (naturally), green-brown hazel eyes, and ivory makeup pale skin with a few freckles. My best friend, Eirwen Hartsock, who knows my "darned near everything" heritage, said I looked a bit Italian. Also, one classmate during some discussion asked me out of curiosity, what my ethnicity was, and she thought I was Italian. ( I do have some in me)
I have a scottish last name to boot (the Italian thing)

That's funny! When I was a baby, my Grandma used to take me everywhere, and people thought I was her baby (she looks very young).
But to add to it, when she was dating my Grandpa, his family wanted nothing to do with her because she was Mexican.. which she is not. She's just brown with dark hair and eyes.
Around the time I was 18 or so, people starting asking me if I were part Mexican, and the answer's still no...lol. This was only bad when I worked in auto parts and non-English speaking customers would demand to speak to me, sure I spoke Spanish... hehe
Yeah, about 50 words!

I was born at 9 1/2 months, with a hole in my lung, internal bleeding, swollen brain, and weighing 11 lbs. To this day, no one, not even the doctors, could figure out how I could've survived under the slim chances I was given. T_T;

I also had naturally blue hair. It was raven-blue, but there was enough blue to make it almost look like midnight blue. :D :D :D

As for all the bad conditions, here is where I stand now: I am very dextrous. I can run across a slick, wet floor, and not lose balance. The worst disease I've ever had was the flu. I'm flexible, and after years of training in magick, I have almost totally eradicated my asthma (gained from having fluids in my lung at birth)! I practice karate, walk around outside barefoot, I've gotten in fistfights, and never in my life have I broken a bone. :)

It took years of inner work, but I'm pretty much normal. :)

blue hair? Okay, now I'm jealous. The man my grandmother worked for, his oldest, her hair was so black it appeared blue at times.
Phooey, why couldn't I have had the hair color I was born with now?

Just thought I would throw in a little tidbit of info here. the normal pregnancy is actually ten months or 40 weeks, not nine months like is so commonly thought. Well, anywhere between 38-40 weeks is term. I am not sure where the whol nine months thing came from unless it is because you are usually a month along at least before you find out and then you have nine months to go from there. *shrug*

Anyway I was full term and 7 lbs even.

I was 7lbs 11 oz at birth. I have no idea as to whether I was "on time" or late or whatever. My mother miscarried a pregnancy, and then got pregnant with me without having a period in between. So... they knew I would probably be born in October, but had no idea WHEN in October. I was born the 19th.

No physical problems... I was born with bright red hair, which rubbed off after a few weeks and grew in blonde (and still is).

full term, 7lb, 3oz. i would have been exactly on my due date but the gave my mom something to slow the birth process. i'm realtively normal anyway, brring a touch (only a touch) of scoliosis.

i was born with dark hair which rubbed off, grew back blonde after a long time, and now it is dark brown again. my natural color looks sorta red in some lights and conditions, and black in others.

I was born two weeks late, had to be yanked out with foreceps.

No hair, hole in my heart, collapsed blood vessel between heart and lung, and some other pulmonary problem (i forget what). The doctors took me away from my mother immediately, and nobody told her what was going on for hours. The first she heard anything was her OB coming in to say, "It'll be ok. This hospital has some of the best pediatric heart surgeons in the country." To which my mother responded, "WHAT?!"

Long story short, I didn't have to have surgery - two of the problems cleared up on their own, although I still have the hole in my heart.

Joey (my boy) was born 5 days early, practically perfect in every way.

3 weeks and three days early. I was pretty much normal size, apart from my oversized head. I wasn't ill, its just a feature that means I can never find hats to fit!
I also had hiccoughs in the womb, and have had a real weakeness towards them ever since.

Me, I'm perpetually late. My mom was given a due date of Dec. 23rd, then finally Dec. 31st. I wasn't born until Jan. 7th. 7 lbs and some odd ounces, 21 inches long., with blond hair (turned brown/red when I was about 7).

My youngest brother though was a shock all around. My dad had "the old snip" (to quote him) done after my first brother was born, so for mom to show up pregnant again in the first place was like "Whoa! Wait a minute!". The doctors told her she would have a girl, and then they "discovered" two heartbeats, and told her TWINS (girls still). Corey was born 8lbs 10oz, 23 inches long and most definitely a boy.

I was born two weeks late, in August, in 90F weather... a fact which my mother still brings up now and then. :p I was 9 lbs., and had a full head of thick dark hair.

I maintain that I was two weeks late so I could be a Virgo... two Leos in the same house with my Scorpio Dad would have been a Very Bad Thing. :D

I was born like weeks days early and weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces. I was tiny compared to any other babies. I was in an incubater because when i was born i had my embilical cord wrapped around my neck and such. I was blue....for the first day of my life. Not a happy time. But other then that i have no medical problem, cept one of my kidneys is smaller then the other, no side effects though. Apperently that makes me stubborn....PHH

Yeh! when i was pregnant, i was like well 40 weeks is 10 months, so how can it be 9 months! i think it's all about how many days there are in each month, and on average babies are born at 9 months.. maybe i'm totally wrong, but oh well

I think i was born a couple of days after my due date, no complications, nothing!!! I weighed 7lb 9oz... and i didn't cry! i just stared at EVERYONE with huge eyes! My mom doesn't believe that babies can't see properly when they are born, because when i was born i watched every single movement someone made!

My mother was skydiving when I was born, and I was born mid air!..

OH, wait, I exaggerated a bit. I was born a little over nine months in a little hospital with red hair and hazel eyes that didn't change. No health problems that I know of....yawn...

I liked my first story better.

I was born about 3 weeks early, with a stillborn twin. We were both small (I was 3 lbs, 2 oz, my twin was 2 lbs, 3 oz), and I was in the hospital for about a month before I could go home just because of my small size and underdeveloped lungs. 4 years ago (on Sunday), I had twins of my own, after a long and complicated pregnancy. They were a month early, and were perfectly healthy, at 5 lbs, 11 oz, and 5 lbs, 5 oz (that's 11 pounds of baby!). They were due on December 28th, but November 23rd was a full moon that year, and well, I guess they just got too excited! :p As for my twin, she's always been....with me. I'll just leave it at that. ;)

I was 3 weeks late according to my Mom, but it was 1966, and I was something of a surprise so she could have goofed up her dates, that or my nonfunctional thyroid messed things up...

Now I am ok, but they did not diagnose the hypothyroidism till I was 6-8 weeks old and not thriving. The delay did damage and I cringe when I here people talking about skipping the PKU tests (it's more than for PKU...)**shivers, knowing it could have been way worse**

Tis is general "me-as-baby" stuff and may or may not be associated with how late I was...

I was supposed to have been born July 22nd. I was born August 15th. Quite a bit late, in the middle of a thunderstorm. ;) The doctors "lost" my heartbeat at one point, and when I was 16 this came up again as a premature heartbeat problem- really, not a problem, just a bit of a quickening at times that left me a little out of breath.

I want to say 5 or 6 pounds, not too small or too large...

My left foot was angled wrong and my parents had to massage it over into place over time. These days I have problems with both feet, but nothing I can contribute to that.

I also had hip dysplasia, and Mom (being the granola-girl she was) opted for the pile-6-diapers-on-her method instead of metal leg braces, which she felt might have slowed me down from learning to walk. A few times a year, now, my right hip bothers me, and I get a bit of sciatic pain.

I was also yanked out using foreceps, which my chiropractor says may have an effect on my back and posture even now...

I was born 3 months premature on August 2 (I came out of the hospital on November 2), I suffered a brain hemerrage (once or twice) after I was born. I now have only 20% vision in my left eye and wear glasses (obviously, but contacts are no good for me)

I have mild cerebal palsy, and when I was younger, I was in leg braces, casts and later (at 8) had an operation the lengthen the tendon, in my left foot, because I walked on my toes.

If you were to pass me in the street, you'd probably notice a girl with a slight limp. But other than problems with Maths, I'm pretty much normal ...

I was born weighing 830 grams ... (sorry for the american's out there, I don't know the translation into pounds. I believe it could be around 1 and a half pounds ... if that)

I walked at the old age of two ... when doctors said I'd never walk.

I was born on the Ohio State University campus on April 27, 1985. I was born early, though whether it was a month or two months I do not know. My heart failed as I was being naturally born so I ended up as a cesarian baby. I don't know when I died or how long I was gone for, but I was a dead baby or fetus at one time (my head was just so big I kept pushing and spent all my energy trying to get out that my heart gave up).
I was born with red hair and brown/gold eyes. Nothing has changed, my hair color went through its phases but it ended up, more or less, the same color as it was when I was born.
I would rub my baby hair off and pull other kids hair and put it on my head...
Could be a precursor to my love for dying my hair?

I'm not really sure if I was born early, late, or pretty much on-time, but I do know I was born with a ton of problems. I'll ask my mother about the time when she wakes.

I was born deaf and remained completely deaf .

I was born with one or three (I can't remember now) holes in my heart.

Up until I was around ten or so I had extremely violent seizures, and chocolate would send me into a fit. I'm in fact responsible for ruining one of my mother's eyes. I'm also responsible for ripping an earring of her's out.

The doctors told my mother if she did not abort me I would most assuredly be born as a down syndrome child. Her response: "So?"

There was probably a good deal of other things, but I do not know what they were. All of the problems have passed with time. I eat chocolate nonstop and haven't had a seizure in over a decade that I know of, my hearing is 25% better than the average person thanks to surgery performed on me on my first birthday, the holes in my heart have completely closed up, and supposedly my I.Q. is in the genius range. So, as bad as it may look things can turn around for the better obviously.

full term, 7 pounds, 3 ounces. i had some kind of fetal bile or something in my lungs, but was otherwise fine. my hair all fell out when i was a few months old, and grew back blond. it's medium to dark brown now. i had no teeth whatsoever until i was 13 months old. later i had to have some painful orthodontic procedures done because my jaw was not big enough to hold all my teeth. i still have a baby tooth somewhere because there was no adult tooth to replace it.

i have a little bit of scoliosis, but not that bad. the army didn't notice it when i was coming in, anyway. one of my legs is just slightly longer than the other one, and that hip gives me problems on very long runs, but otherwise i am fine. i've never been sicker than having to have my tonsils out when i was 6 or 7, and "saddam's revenge" when i was in iraq. that's somewhat nasty stuff, but after being rushed to the clinic and having four different people struggle to find a vein to stick an iv in, the next day i was fine. i was surprised by the vein issue because my skin is very pale and the veins are actually visible, but apparently the visible ones were no good.

I was born on time, 39 weeks. But I'd like to put in for my boys. Both were over 10 lbs and have the exact same birthmarks! They're what they call raspberries and they fade a little with time, but I find they redden up when they get mad  ! They both have them on their forehead, where the third eye would be, and on the base on their neck, right where your skull ends and your neck starts. Has anyone ever heard of that before? I thinks it's strange that they should both have the same ones at the same spots.

I was born 2 and a half weeks late and was probably the fattest newborn anyone ever saw. I was only 18 inches long but I weighed 8 lbs 3oz! The docs told my mom I probably would never grow much over 5 feet but now I'm 5' 7"! Alright, I'm still shorter than my little sister by 3 inches, but at least I didn't stay tiny! Now aside from some hayfever, I'm actually very healthy.
