Sheldon Gosline, educated at Cambridge and the University of Chicago, is an internationally known and widely published scholar on Ancient Egypt. He is also a delightful person.

Sheldon is committed to bridging the gap between academics and non-academics, between magical practitioners and intellectual practitioners. We are delighted that he has agreed to devote one evening to giving a talk and discussion on Egyptian Magic and Religion. Specifically, he will be talking about the current state of research on a range of topics:
-priesthood training
-magical methods
-devotional practices
-spell-casting
-prayer-formats
-temple culture
-goddess cults

Sheldon is pleased to be of any help with practical queries that might be of assistance to those involved in the Egyptian mysteries (the material from which temple garb was made? guidelines on making amulets? Where to find an original invocation to Nephthys?) For this reason we are setting aside ample time for questions and discussion after his overview talk.

On this night only, all Treadwell's books on Egyptian topics will be on sale for a 20 percent discount. It is also our hope that representatives of the whole range of Egyptian Mysteries groups will be present, to share leaflets, study-course information and events notices with everyone attending.

We promise a friendly atmostphere, and there will be socialising with wine afterward. All are very welcome. Planning to attend? Please arrive at 7.15 for a 7.30 start.

To book a place simply phone or email Treadwells, and we will hold a place for you. The cost is £5.00/4.00 conc.
