I have looked at many places where they say make your own runes, they say wood, stones, and wood. But I was wondering if it would work with those glass nuget things? you know, the ones you put in the bottom of the fish tank or in a bowl of floating candles! because they seem the right sort of size and it would be easy to just get some glass paint and do the symbols on, but I thought I would just check if that would work with you guys!
Blessed be,

I have seen many rune sets made out of those glass thingys. I think the only thing to keep in mind when using glass or stone is to make sure the paint doesn't peel off when the stones/glass rub against eachother. I've seen glass runes that have been etched into the glass which gives a lot more durability. Otherwise you might want to use a few coats of varnish to seal the paint.
It might not be the traditional materials used for runes, but who is to say that if the old vikings'd had electric power tools etc at hand they wouldn't have used them? ;)

...can't think of any reason not to make 'em that way. Like Vinga says, be sure you seal the sigils, or the paint will come off. I get teased for it, (Silver Venus, are ya out there, Luv? :D ) but I use clear nail polish. Comes in smaller, easier-to-handle-&-store containers, & has it's own applicator brush built right in. It's also relatively inexpensive, & you can get it at your neighborhood 7-11. :)

Hiya Mystic Ebony, Your idea sounds really neat ~ those glass nuggets would work perfectly! All you need is some enamel paint to paint the sigils on and Rick's clear nail polish! :D Maybe you could think about making a little pouch bag for them too out of suede or leather...
Good luck :sunny:
