I know theres another thread, I've already read it (most of it) but this is kinda going off onto a tangent. I've been practising martial arts (kin bushi ryu - Its in Adelaide, Oz, and its a mixture of everything) for 4 years now and as you get to a higher belt level, you start to learn how to use some weapons, and the three-pronged fork thingos that I cant remeber what they're called is part of it. I haven't got a pair yet, but they've always interested me and I was wondering if people had any idea as to what element they belonged to? Same with the staffs. we call them a jo i dont know if they're the same where ever other people are from. they're the tall staffs. Some time soon I also get to learn to use the katana *insert wicked grin here* :adidas: :woot: :drinking: :dancy: :ringaroun :fpoke: hehe I love these smilies!
ok, i gtg find something constructive to do.

Rampant smilie abuse MUST be stopped. Do your part to help control the smilie population; have your smilies spayed or neutered.

Hello, i can explain to you the element of the staff. I was born a druid of the Tuatha De Danaan. I am a Black Belt in 3 diffrent styles of Japanese MartialArts and within my own Order. The staff is an earth elemental. Us warrior druid us it as our main weapon. We summon the power and the spirits of the earth with it. Also use it as the bo staff. If i can help you with anything else just give me a ring.

I dont do martial arts, but if im not mistaken, the three-pronged fork like weapon you are referring to is called a sai (pronounced "sigh"). I could be wrong though...

Yeah, thats it thanks. I couldn't remember how to spell it, i'd prefer to put three-pronged-fork-thingy than getting the spelling wrong. i thought it was just si or summin, so cheers for that.

I've been training martial arts for half my life, and discovered one can use any weapon in any element.
However, some weapons lend themselves more easily to be used within one element than another. Like the bo could be an earth type weapon, but it'll work very well in water and wind as well. The sai is a short defense weapon so water and fire come to mind first, but I can imagine using it in both earth and wind as well. As for katana's, I've seen them used in both fire and wind elements, less in the others.
As your own bodily movements change from element to element, from ryu to ryu, so do the movements you let your weaponry make.

OMG&GS! I was one of the biggest teenage ninja turtles freaks as a kid. Im so glad Im not the only one! As for tai chi, my grandma took a corse once for ppl with arthritis, and I went along for a sesion. Its too slow for me, but I think probably takes a while to get used to it, but yea, it would be good for grounding. I just do a bit of the meditation my renshi taught the class once. That works for me. And some time im gonna look for a proper meditation corse in the summer hols or summin. I duno nething about the other type u were asking about soz,
